Some of us will go to college, others to work, and some will take time to relax and think. In anything that we do, we will meet new friends. As we have passed from one learning year to another, we have made friends. Some friends we say “hi” to in the halls, others become our friends through learning experiences, and yet some become true friends. Friends never say good-bye, for if they are true friends they will remain in your memory. To be eligible a student must rank in the upper half of the class. The senior class, along with the teachers, vote for a deserving boy and girl. The votes are then tallied and the awards are given out accordingly. The P. T.A. Award of one hundred dollars and a certificate of recognition is given to a boy and girl who have contributed in school and community activities. The North Side American Legion Post honors a boy and girl who have qualities of leadership, courage, honor, and scholarship. A boy and girl receive the First National Bank Award of a medal and fifty dollars for service and leadership qualities. The World Affairs Council of Minneapolis gives the Rose Reese Award to a student who has an interest in foreign affairs. A twenty-five dollar award is given by the Star-Tribune to a deserving senior based on outstanding citizenship and school contributions. The Martha T. Wallace Memorial Fund Scholarship Award is given to a deserving student who ranks high academically. The Daughters of the American Revolution Award is given to a student for interest and achievement in American History. DANITA BANKS P.T.A. DANIEL KAPPEL P.T.A. UNDERCLASSMEN’S YEARS AT HENRY All underclassmen have their own ways of viewing each year at Henry. Seventh grade is a year just full of adventures being in a new school. Eighth grade is a year to get roots set for coming years. Ninth grade is on the brink of senior high, making it one of the best years. Getting acquainted with all the new students from the neighboring junior high is what sophomore year is all about. The class of ’74 waits eagerly to become seniors and have their chance to be in full control. Each year has its own advantages, but the biggest advantage is knowing that the following year will be even better!
