SUCCESS The untested rookies of I955’s Twin City Champs, faced a stiff test with Washburn, and though defeated 21-6. showed potential for games to come. The Comeback Kids then started to roll. Traveling to Southwest they unleashed a vicious air attack to completely demolish the Indians. 38-7. Homecoming was next and the boys rose to the occasion, combining running with passing for a 42-14 victory and a successful Homecoming. The boys then traveled to Central for a game that was considered a tossup. For the first half the game went according to prediction, but Henry's stamina prevailed and the Pats won. 26-14. Next on the schedule for the rampaging Pats was a game the whole school looked forward to. Playing at home, Henry completely outclassed North High, dishing up the worst defeat in North s history. 53-0. The North Side championship came with this win. Again at home, the now powerful Patriots played host to Vocational and. with the help of tremendous blocking and tackling, defeated them. 30-6. The last game with South High proved to be one of the toughest. At South, the game was a battle of defenses with the Pat line proving to be tougher. The game ended 12-0 and with this the season ended. Coach Cleve had this to say of his squad. They surprised me and themselves. I have never had more fun working with a group of boys. The team paid tribute to Mr. Cleve and his assistants for their wonderful guidance throughout the season. H 25 ]

AERIAL ARTISTRY Much of the season’s success was due to the terrific passing attack of Coach Cleve's boys. Though they compiled a season total of 1888 yards running and passing for an average of 269.7 yards per game, the aerial attack consistently kept opponents off balance and on their toes for anything. Completing an amazing total of 25 for 41 between them, halfback Larry Schwartz with 6 for I 7. and fullback Ron Stolski with 19 for 24. were the main gunners' on the squad. An average of better than 50 per cent completions and 466 yards gained with 8 touchdown passes was the final tabulation. Although Coach Cleve’s offense is based mainly on blinding speed and power, it is sometimes overlooked that he always fashions a powerful air attack to go with his fine teams. This year was certainly no exception. C27] Overhead action from the Central win. 26-14. P;. r.f P...I
