- 2. A . I at-,M b r ' : ' as fQ F Ni . , F... 0 c eys How much harm can fifteen girls in fifteen skirts do? Plenty if they're on the Field Hockey team. On a cold and wet Wednesday afternoon, the Henry Patriots set out to beat the Kearny Ko- mets. Accompanied by fifteen sticks, the girls headed for the field. Be aggressive! was the most often used cheer of the Patriots . . . and ag- gressive they were. Using both speed and strength. they had the ball on their opponent's side of the field and pre- pared to score. Teresa Ybarra drove tha ball into the goal but it was blocked by the goalie. After a while, the Komets began making progress down to the Pa- triot side. They used all their skill against the Patriot defense. Yet their skills weren't enough. As one Komet came down the field guiding the ball, she soon found herself face to face with Patriot. Holli Hurley. Holli skillfully ma- neuvered the ball away from the Ko- met, who was accidentally hit in the pelvis with the ball. The game contin- ued as Carina Puleo quickly recovered the ball. She created many Patriot opportunities but the goalie was always there to stop a shot. As the game ended, the score was O-O. This called for a ten minute overtime which also went scoreless. Next came the flick-offs. Maria Cormier was the Patriot goalie, and though she did her best, the Komets scored to claim a O-1 victory. Overall the Field Hockey team had a successful season, each girl tried her best and played for the fun of the sport. i'Field Hockey is really a sport for cute brutes,', said Faith Leasau. Unfortu- nately for the returning players, there would be no team next year due to lack of supervision. Nonetheless, the Field Hockey teams would always be re- membered by the Patriots. P.H.
