Friend to his fellow teammates, foe to anyone he wrestles against. My favorite move is the double leg, how about you? How often have you asked yourself this question? Mike Pyle did. And he found that by using his double leg maneuver he was able to pile up the wins. Mike always placed well in the tournaments the school went to. Mike's a really good wrestler. But, he also had an advantage on the rest of the guys, because he had wrestled be- fore, said Mike Szutenbach. Mike was on an AAU wrestling team prior to playing for the Patriots. The team practiced everyday for three hours. Mike got into wrestling to help him with staying in condition for foot- ball. He played linebacker and full- back, sometimes he played both. That might explain why his favorite move was the double leg, lt's like a football tackle, you drop your weight and can eigher pick him up, trip him or throw him to either sidef' Mike explained. Sound rough? Mike's opponents sure thought so. j. V. Wrestling 83

For years now our tennis courts have gained a renowned reputation for be- ing some of the worst in the county. Well, it's nice to be known for some- thing,' commented Steve Chan. The courts were designed for more effec- tive drainage. The architect didn't con- sider how much a few uneven, sloping valleys would affect an average tennis game. Playing matches away, on de- cent courts, is paradise compared to playing a home match and having to listen to the visiting team's com- plaints, said Moises Orozco. This year was no exception. 'AWe definitely couldn't host Wimbledon, comment- ed Rick Sidley. Coached by Russ Leslie, the team had a very successful season, as shown by their record. Some of the highlight- ing matches were against Coronado, Crawford, and Morse. The top players included Danny Braun, Ron Kroichick, Jack Lieb, and Dale Minney. Taking the point with his serve, Steve Chan wins the set. Leaning into his serve, Marty Comer fires an ace into his unsuspecting opponent's backhand, Boys' Tennis 85
