Th Strugglin Green and Gold The day started out green and gold. lt was homecoming and everyone was excited. Not only was everyone decked in school colors, but they were grinning from ear to ear. So what if we'd only won one game so far. It didnit matter that we were playing Point Loma, the number five ranked team in the League. Who cared? We were going to win because it was Homecoming. Not only had the students been psyching themselves up all week, but the Varsity football players were also. The season might have been disap- pointing so far, but this was the game to end all our troubles. The fan attens dance was low. The team felt a need for school spiritg - homecoming would be it. uWe didn't work our tails off this summer training for nothing. Where is our school when you really need them? asked Aziz Badra. But, tickets sold quickly and the team knew the school was behind them. The team was prepared to do some of their hardest hitting. Our team was known throughout the league for our physical playing. The players had all the confidence they would need, Peter lst-L Stamatopoulos explained, HThe chem- istry just hasnit been there, and we haven't had good luck. But, l know it will click on Homecoming! And so the game began. The excite' ment built up by the half. The tension grew stronger when Eiselman threw his second touchdown to Stamatopoulos. ll he chemistry hasn't been there. The cheerleaders led the crowd, though we hardly needed their help. The climax came when we fumbled and Point Loma scored. The moans of defeat echoed through the stadium. We had lost our one big game. The crushing blow summarized the entire season. r V., Danny Finnerson tries to maneuver Point Loma in our Homecoming game. Coach Twombley discusses with Coach Willson Serra's plays.
