Tried I think he is a really nice guy. He spends a lot of time working to improve his teamf' remarked one player in ref- erence to Varsity Football coach, Dale Twombley. Although Twombley ex- pressed a feeling of disappointment to- wards this year's outcome, he didn't feel ashamed because, 'fWe lost by a close margin, we also had several bad breaks. Twombley believed that the record C1-91 was not indicative of the teams quality, but of the opponents. Feeling strongly towards his players and coaching staff, Twombley felt that most of his kids were the finest in N e had a lot of bad breaks. school, and very sharp academically, He also felt that they were important role models for the rest of the students. Some of his outstanding players were Bob Fuller, Allen Read, Aziz Ba- dra, Tim Shramic and Pete Stamato- poulos. Defensively, his outstanding players were Dan Almond, John Hewitt, Marty Barnett, Steve Aquista, and junior, Kenny Bernard. ln addition, Twombley felt that his coaching staff was exceptionally good. This staff consisted of Coach Kavoca- vich, Welson Daily and Walt Baranski. P.H. 'IM sss'.iw lf 6 WL!- Starring as the number one quarterback, Scott Mid- duagh races down the field. Playing it by Lips. Robert Massa, deaf, yet still able to pursue his football interests. Robert Massa not only tackled foot- ball players well, but he also tackled his handicap. Massa, a sophomore, started as defensive tackle for the Junior Varsi- ty football team, wearing jersey num- ber 79. Massa was born deaf, as a re- sult of his mother's illness of German measles. Massa had always enjoyed sports, and anxiously awaited football tryouts. Not only did he make the team, but he started as a defensive linebacker. Be- ll may not hear the cheerleaders, but I sure see them! cause plays were covered before games, Massa could easily take part in the maneuvers. Coach Baranski ex- plained, Massa is as capable of tack- ling as any of my players, he's a good kid. I may not hear the cheerleaders, but l sure see them! was an example of Massa's good sense of humor. He loved to crack jokes in all of his classes, and was an excellent lip reader.
