The class was a difficult one, and there were no easy A's. The students set weight goals, like 100 pounds in a bench press, and were graded on how much they improved, and how close they got to their goal over a six week period. After the six weeks were over. greater weight goals were set. Weightlifting wasn't the only PE. course which included jogging. The scene inside didn't look like an award winning orchestra of a school this size. What this unsuspecting visitor did not know, was that the eleven musicians that he saw before him were only a small part of the complete orchestra. The whole orchestra met every other Wednesday and during lunch on Fridays of the other weeks. The entire orchestra consists ed of approximately fifty members. These talented musicians worked diligently prepar- ing for the concerts in which they performed. ln addition they had the opportunity to participate in state festivals and many were honored by being chosen to play in the all- state orchestra. Other music courses included jazz ensem- ble, band, chorus, and choir, All of these classes have gained great recognition. Band won sweepstakes awards at several parades and competitions including Columbus Day and Orchestra did well in the Mount Miguel Festival. 53 . www. T Q T' 'SGT' 'f k'iM T T -.
