Swim 2V2 miles in rough water? Bike 112 miles? Then run a marathon, all in the same dayl? Maybe not for you and me but this is something that Coach Joseph Kovacevich takes a liking to. His dedication and discipline enabled him to train for the most strenuous of athletic competition, the triathalon - which involves running, swimming, and biking. He has competed in mini triathalons here in San Diego but his goal was to rival the stiff compe- tition of the world in the famous triathalon in Hawaii. Fitness is more than just a hobby, it's an obsession. ealthy ttitud Teachers get it together Coach Kovacevich pedaled to and from ore tha n a h obb y, it 'a a n obs essi on school each dey which added up to e healthy 292 Administration Staff 30 miles. During his summers, he started his training at 6 a.m., while most of us were stilf in bed. He ran for 45 min., biked 50 miles. then swam 3A mile. A few other teachers kept in shape too. For Coach lmlay's enjoyment and exercise he strolled the golf course and putted 18 holes whereas Mr. Zetts had been seen exer cising during lunch hour. Almost all of th faculty had their own methods of keeping ij shape, whether it was running, dancing, oi just trying to control their class.

The first time many people saw Cynthia they thought she was a student. tan ngl The First View A big new school and lots of new faces. lt seems that the ones who really matter are those in the office. Everything centers around that place. Every morning when l get to school, it's busy, busy, busy. Even my coun- selor has usually got someone to talk to. Sec- retaries are running around, starting the day off. A lot of teachers seem to be in there too. lt is somewhat surprising how often a familiar face shows up. And, of course, they know everyone. lt makes me feel like a stranger. l'm sure it won't take long to get to know people. They all know so much, too. l could have any question answered. The career counsel- or and his aide told me all about my future. Illl be sure to go back there when l'm thinking more definitely of a career. My teachers are always telling me to go to my counselor for help, And the secretaries in the front office are so nice. Always a smile on their faces, always willing to tell me what l need to know. l was introduced to the principal f what a nice guy. He always says l'lello.l' ll I makes me feel like a stranger. For that matter, they all do. lf anyone from the office happens to be in the halls, they don't forget to say Hhif' Thatls a real com- fort. l think l'll make it after all, Thanks to the people in the office, lim starting to feel more at home.
