Details on th In id More Custodians are the least glorified members of the staff, and yet they were an integral part of our school. To many students, Robert 4'Lefty Halcome was only a . . . smiling face behind a broom, but there was much more to know. Before he came here three years ago, Lefty spent twenty years in the U.S. Navy. Of all the countries he visited throughout Eu- than just a smile rope, Ireland was his favorite because 4' . . . they've got the biggest hearts. While in the Navy, he participated in the Cuban Missile crisis, which was highlighted by a surprise congratulatory visit by President Kennedy. Of the sports Lefty participated in, his fa- vorites were weightlifting, swimming and golf. I-le was in a golf tournament in Washing- ton D.C., where he met Bing Crosby. Throughout high school, Lefty was active in choral music, and sang in two operettas - I I hey've got the biggest hearts. Pirates of Penzancef' and The Mikado . Still, Lefty never learned a single note of music. Custodians were full of wonderful sur- prises this year. Those who just gave them a grin received one that could have made any- body's day a good one. lt takes a lot of concentration!
