During Winter Week competitions, Chuck Gift takes part in the class competition, a reindeer race. This competition received many laughs for the peo- ple riding small tricycles and wearing reindeer ant- lers. Besides flamenco dancing during Winter Week, Lisa Berman, Elana Addleson, and Alisa Ohri show Israeli dancing in the Quad during lunch. 'P JS Winter Frolics I was just sitting there, in the playground, minding my own business when all of a sud- den two high school students came and took me and my friend into the Quad. I over- heard them say we would be perfect usleds for the reindeer races at lunch time during Winter Week. But we weren't sleds, we were tricycles! Chuck Gift, a senior, was the reindeer who rode me. He almost didn't fit on me. His knees hit my handlebars when he ped- dled. That hurt! Sophomore Scott Brown rode my friend. Chuck and Scott wore ant- lers ibut if you ask me, they didn't really look like reindeeri. The whistle blew! Before I knew it Scott was slightly ahead of us. We rounded the first corner with no problem, except we were still behind. Scott had gained more ground. As we went around the second cor- ner I heard Sophomore Linda Hess say, they look so funny riding those tricycles around. In the final stretch Scott was far ahead of us. And as a last attempt to win, Chucky jumped off of me fthank goodness! He was getting heavyli and started shoving me with his feet, but he was too late. Scott won the race. I remember that some other Winter Week activities were Musical Chairs, Israeli Dancing, flamenco dancing by the Ballet Folklorico and Santa Claus pictures. From what I could see, the first Winter Week was a big success! Win ter Week 23
