Class competitions which included a pie eating contest, bobbing for ap- ples, a marshmallow dropping con- test plus the Homecoming float were all new options for the sophomores. Revealed one sophomore, The best activity which l participated in was the float because l met the most new people, got the most involved, and had the most fun. The theme for this year's sopho- more float, in following with the Homecoming theme of Those were the days, was Knights in Shining Armor. The theme of the float was sophomore advisor Joan Stewart's idea, and the float was built in a total- ly new way. The students worked on th float up until the very last minute be- fore the parade. We had two problems: no enough people working, and sine we're sophomores, we had no exper ience in making a float, explaine Melissa Berton. Three blocks into the parade, th castle started to fall apart, but th day was saved by a knight who held i together until the parade was over. Even though Knights in Shinin Armor did not win any awards, th spirit and dedication of the sopho- mores was prize enough. Many people chose thrift shopping over their normal stores for buying everything from a new dress to mail- man shoes. lt was a lot more fun when nobody else shopped there. I I hen I find a good deal, my dad loves it. Then your clothes were original, but it's so trendy now, said Jim Rao. Everybody did it. I feel like such a bargain shopper when I find a good deal. The minute I see a Purple Heart truck, l hurry out there -- se- lection is what's important, ex- plained Scott Grimes. Some students didn't like the hassle of searching through rows upon rows of tattered shirts just to find one shirt that fit or looked fun. The problem was solved by vintage clothing shops. The Clothes at Buffalo Breath and Wear lt Again Sam were pre-sorted from the junk at a normal Goodwill. But, there was a price to pay for this pre-sort ment - and it was a pretty penny. Was thrift shopping a fad, or were the old vintage clothes actually com- ing back in style? Explaining the best stores for vintage shop- ping, Stacee Peterson wears a sixty-nine cent sweater.
