Class fflcers Lead th Wa The enthusiastic Junior Class Cabinet started work as early as August helping to re-do the lockers. 'tWe washed and swept them after they were sandblasted and then prepared them for painting, remarked Junior Class Secretary Liz Howard. After school started the cabinet, led by Presi- dent Alec Rodney, could be seen planning fun- draisers, encouraging juniors to participate in class competitions and making the year interest- ing. Andrea Kirazian, vice-president, said, lt's important for everyone to get involved and have spiritf, The cabinet made it easier for juniors to ac- complish just that. Suzanne Meier, treasurer, feels, The class officer's job should be to orga- nize and outline activities so everyone can not only participate, but can help in the prepara- tion. With the help of the class officers, the year was both fun and productive. The selecting committee chose students who combined all the elements that contribute to a well-rounded personality - spirit, leadership, human re- lations, and community involve- ment. There was no limit to the number of students that could be awarded Patriot of the Year. Every senior was eligible, but had to be nominated for the award. Examples of this years Patriots were individuals who wrote for the Patriot Press, played in the band, and held an office in ASB. Others served on the V.E.E.P. and ESAA Committies, led the yearbook staff, and sweated it out for a Patriot team. Winners of The Patriot ofthe Year were recog- nized at the Annual Awards As- sembly held at the end of the year. Patriots of the Year 191
