Patrick Henry From A Senior Angle Patriots see our school from different angles - but how about a person compar- ing it to a school back East? For Monica Bruce, coming to this school as a junior was a different experience. Everyone had known each other for a long time and the cliques were already established. It's hard to break in and make new friends, especially when the school is so big. Monica said she knew almost all of the people at her school in Virginia, and here just her own group. lt's too bad, I think you need to be exposed to a lot of different kinds of peo- ple - not the kinds you like in your own clique. To Monica, the school is a little imper- sonal, and is keeping that in mind while looking into colleges. I had better rela- tionships with more of the students at my old school - maybe in college there'll be more opportunity to meet different types of people. As a senior, Monica doesnft feel any older than the rest of the students, though she feels she has more responsibility and more work. Seniors are always busy with applications, homework, and jobs, lt's a bogged down year! Realizing it's a step toward adulthood, many devote more time to their studies and learning. I think thatls what your senior year is all about - getting ready for college and learning to take more and more responsibility. Monica Bruce, a college-bound senior, discusses the problems of being a newcomer to such a large school. She finds it difficult breaking into the many cliques and meeting a variety of people. i px, .
