The SAT lScholastic Aptitude Testi, just one of three college board exams, measures the knowledge of students in the areas of English and math. The scores from this test were sent to the prospective colleges and then used as one factor in determining student acceptance. Many students supplemented their knowledge in test-taking by attending prep-courses on 'LHow to beat the SAT, studying lengthy books and an enumer- able amount of vocabulary flash cards some even listened to educational tapes, all in hopes of getting a higher score on the SAT. The courses offered by schools and private classes cost between S20 and S400 and were usually four, three hour ll I I S worth the risk meetings. e's Onl Dad Having a father or mother for a teacher makes a student the target both of envy and resentment. There were a large num- ber of students whose parents work at this school as teachers. And yet, many think this situation would be difficult. However, Donna Ble- vins reveals, I don't find it a real prob- lem. He doesn't favor me one way or the other, and I think I respect him more now that I have had him as a teacher.
