QT' fr' -we Valedictorians from the journalism Angle UThe most important thing is to do the best you can, not to be named Valedictori- an, summed up Sheri Bernstein. She and the other members of Journalism agreed that pride wasn't just associated with the title, but rather with the fact that they had ll he most important thing is to do the best you can. t'f T-fy fi APU: .at - 'QW itt worked hard. Danny Braun stated, Ulf l had worked just as hard, and gotten one B instead of all A's, I wouldn't have felt any less oroudf' For Georgianne Rogers, the goal of get- ting all A's had been a strong one for a long time. I would have been disappoint- ed in myself if I had not done so well. All agreed that Journalism added a great deal to their high school exper- iences, and they would have participated even if it had been a threat to their grade point average. Danny felt that a large degree of luck was involvedg luck, for there was no way of judging which teacher you'd have, etc. Brian, Sheri, Danny and Georgianne agreed that they could honestly look back on their three years and not really change anything. The SAT lScholastic Aptitude Testi, just one of three college board exams, measures the knowledge of students in the areas of English and math. The scores from this test were sent to the prospective colleges and then used as one factor in determining student acceptance. Many students supplemented their knowledge in test-taking by attending prep-courses on 'LHow to beat the SAT, studying lengthy books and an enumer- able amount of vocabulary flash cards some even listened to educational tapes, all in hopes of getting a higher score on the SAT. The courses offered by schools and private classes cost between S20 and S400 and were usually four, three hour ll I I S worth the risk meetings.
