Throwin' Samoan Tani Leasau was the best discus thrower. She also participated in the shot put. How far can the average girl throw a one kilogram disc? Coming from Sweetwater High, Tani came into Hen- ry and assumed the number one posi- tion as a discus thrower. Tani's brother taught her how to throw a discus when she was 10 years old. Her brother holds the C.l.F. record for the discus. Tani's overall high is 140 ft. but it dropped down to 122. Coach Tony Leon helped her bring it back up to dshe throws it pretty far. 125. She is slowly bringing it up to her best 140. Tani is very close to breaking the school record and she hopes to do it before the end of th season. 'KI think I'll be able to break the record before the year's end. Coach Leon is really working hard with me, and the entire team is behind me. Hopefully on a good day Illl break it. Loose and Laughing The laughing man, Mike Thomas, keeps the team loose and happy when pressure strikes. Ha, Ha, Hal Ha, ha, hal Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Mike Thomas and George Carlin. They all do it. Mike Thomas did what? He made people laugh. You might call him a joke, but even that wouldrft stop him.
