I I I nce you start it's like a drug. wanted to be someone, Not a terrific athlete, just someone that did some- thing extra. Clay strongly disliked the every day routine of school when he was a freshman at Nogales High School. It was there he started running. By the time he was a senior, his running time for the 3.1 mile was 16.16. Besides being an outstanding run- ner, Clay was a leader among his peers. Clay gave the team something to run after, said Coach Runge, he's a very dedicated runner with a wide variety of interest. Summing up his season, Clay said, I enjoy running, but I don't think I could stop running even if I wanted to. lt's like a drug and it pulls you deeper and deeper. Boys Cross Country 111
