The team hopes to go 3-3 in League dual meets. The Patriot Varsity is led by Tom Brecht, team cap- tain, League Champion and CIF finalist Ricky Schumacker and Rod lohnson. Good luck next year. The 1979 Patriot Track team proved to be one of the most competitive teams in the county. Led in the sprints by two-time State Meet qualifier Kipperr Bell, the Pats had virtually an unbeat- able sprint team. Seniors Mike Pope, Craig Sanford, and sophomore Steve Brown contributed greatly to the Patri- ots middle distance races. Over hurdles, Ted lohnson and Simmie Braxton showed great improvement and were extremely tough in dual meets. 1978 C.l.F. point getter Tom Hamilton re- tained his form in the discus and the shot put. Much thanks to head coach Elmer Runge, who devoted much of his time and effort to the distance run- ners, to Dave Libbey, who coached sprints, and Coach joe Kovacevich, who presided over field events. A special thanks to janet Lowry for putting toge- ther an excellent girls team. Top girl competitors were jackie Pease, Cheryl lohnson, Nell Griffith, Barbara Young, Kim Stempien, and Lisa C-ross.
