Offense Despite early skepticism due to inexperience, lack of size and talent, the 1978 Patriot offense proved to be one of the best in the school's history. Balance was key to the Patriot successes during the season. The rushing game, headed by Dan Naughton and jeff Phil- lips, ranked among the toughest in the county. Com- plimenting the hard rushing, were several outstanding receiv- ers ready to take to the air. Standouts Kipper Bell, Steve Kemp, Dean Armatige, and Matt White headed a group of gifted receivers. Also, a significant tool in the Patriot attack was sure footed kicker Brad Baughn. Opening holes were seniors Kent Feldman and Talman. Fine lineman returning next year are juniors Greg Williams, Mike Scozzafava, Leroy Dailey, and tight end Ernie Wright. We wish the best of luck to the Patriots of 1979. Brent Woods y .V -it .aaiii l

Defense The Patriot Defense once again came through with a fine pedonnance.NVhatthe defense hcked in mze and expen- ence, it more than made up for with quickness and determi- nation. The first league loss to Morse was only a minor set- back. Bodtthe oHense and the defense canwe back wvhh a strong showing against Kearny to clinch a playoff berth. On the line were seniors Perry Shenas, Lee Goldberg, Dave Rob- inson and Terry Mowers. Closing the middle were Richard Castaneda and David Walker. Containing the outside were Hnebackem jun Benson,fAndy CaHagher and pnuor Dean Brown. Few teams found it easy to pass on the fine backfield consisting of Terry Ramsett, Kipper Bell, Glenn jones, Scott Dressler and john Lasiter. The Patriot Defense could not have been what it was without the fine coaching of Dave Libby, Doug Danniviek and joe Kavacevich.
