I BADMINTQN SMASHES THE EAST Top row: M. Hamilton feoachj, I. Humphrey, S, Stoll, P. Young, W. Iohnson, K. Gill, R. MacDonald, B Young, and I. Engleman Qmanagerj. Middle: K. Adcock, I. Stobbs, L. Andrews, S. Dissinger, K. Allan- son, L, Pollack, M. Toledo, and R. McLaughlin. Bottom: C. Molina, L. Costanza, K. Tonahill, K. An- drews, B. Booth, K. Borjeson, and S. Gollin. Led by our coach, Marilyn Hamilton, this year's badminton team was the best Patrick Henry has ever produced. We were not only Eastern League champions, but we accomplished this feat with an undefeated record. This year's starting team included seven se- niors, four juniors, and two soph- omores. All of these seniors and two of the juniors had gained valuable experi- ence playing on last year's team. In CIF team competition we placed third, losing a close match in the semi- finals. In individual competition we gave a very good demonstration of our skills. Champions of the doubles sec- tion were Linda Pollack, Mercy Toledo and tying for fifth were Karen An- drews, Barbara Booth and Kim Tonah- ill, Lisa Costanza. Tying for fifth in sin- gles was Patty Young. We're going to miss you guys, espe- cially you, Mrs. Hamilton. Good luck in the future, you made us into winners and you can do it again. Always re- member, Life savers is a part of win- ning. Linda Pollack and Mercy Toledo The countyls number 1 doubles team.

Pam Stone, Debbie Roach, Alexa Colgrove, coach Peterson. L... Led by starting seniors Kathy Herse, Erin Doherty, Tina Perkins, Peggy Coffin and Debbie Roach, this year's girls' volleyball team boasted a 14-4 overall record. This was the strongest the girls team has ever been in P.H. his- tory. Behind a strong middle attack, supplied by Kathy Horse, the Patriots made it all the way into C.I.F. Losing to Hilltop and Crossmont in the finals the girls had to settle for fourth place. They, under coach Shirley Peterson, placed third in the Carlsbad Tourna- ment and first in the Poway Tourna- ment. Kathy Herse received Most Valu- able honors in both of the tournaments plus the Most Valuable Player in C.I.F. Coach Peterson is hoping for an equally successful season next year, with six returning juniors and many sophomores from this year's strong I.V. team. IV.ers crank! t light ..- ..,, ..
