7 The 1976-1977 soccer season was marked by a fast start and a dismal finish. The healthy, hustling Patriots posted a pre-season record of 8-3-O, including a 2-O victory of perennial power La Jolla High and a semi-fi- nal finish in the 18 team La Jolla Cup Tourna- ment. With Kevin McCaffery, Mark Hasens- tab, Ken Wechsler, Abraham Etemad-Haary and Steve Sharamintaro leading the way the Patriots opened the Eastern League campaign in fine fashion and stayed in contention for the league title until mid-season when a com- bination of iniuries and a slump caused the team to stumble. The once healthy Patriots lost several close games in the second round of league play and finished with a league record of 5-8-1. The iunior varsity team had a season record of 11-5-1 with a league record of 7-4-1. The J.V.'s were led by John Lasiter, Keith Wagner, Dean Baughan and Brent Woods. Coach Twombley Sports 83
