Our I976-77 field hockey season was a worthwhile learning experi- ence for everyone. We started out slow but during league play we put it all together, emphasizing hard work and team spirit. The dedication and patience of Ms. Lowry and Mrs. Hamilton proved them to be out- standing coaches. We had a lot of capable people playing this sea- son. Some were players from one to three years experience, and oth- ers were newsomers, all having individual potentials to make a strong competitive varsity team. Outstanding varsity seniors are Sue Buckby, Samar Harb, Karen Moreno, Jenny Oas and Maria Toledo. The J.V. team, working together, had an exciting season ending within the top three teams in the Eastern League. Enthusiastic playing by J.V. seniors Kim Carson, Tina McDougle, and Carol Roberts helped lead the team. to their spirited victories. Few seniors will be graduating this year, leaving next year's team fairly experienced and with high hopes for going to C.l.F. Good luck in the future years of field hockey play. 7 The 1976-1977 soccer season was marked by a fast start and a dismal finish. The healthy, hustling Patriots posted a pre-season record of 8-3-O, including a 2-O victory of perennial power La Jolla High and a semi-fi- nal finish in the 18 team La Jolla Cup Tourna- ment. With Kevin McCaffery, Mark Hasens- tab, Ken Wechsler, Abraham Etemad-Haary and Steve Sharamintaro leading the way the Patriots opened the Eastern League campaign in fine fashion and stayed in contention for the league title until mid-season when a com- bination of iniuries and a slump caused the team to stumble. The once healthy Patriots lost several close games in the second round of league play and finished with a league record of 5-8-1. The iunior varsity team had a season record of 11-5-1 with a league record of 7-4-1. The J.V.'s were led by John Lasiter, Keith Wagner, Dean Baughan and Brent Woods. Coach Twombley Sports 83
