f i 2 ' T , MQ if ,L ILE ' . Q Q CDFFENSE Talent abounded on the T976 Patriot Football team. After being rated number one we suffered two disappointing losses in early season play, to be knocked out of the play-offs. The Patriots were led by the county's best quarterback, Rich McKee, and his fine arm. On the re- ceiving end of his tosses were three fine receivers, Don Utley, Mike Chapon, and Steve Sharamitare. A costly iniury to Joe Nagypal gave Tony Romero and Eric Chambers a chance to show their outstanding potential as runningbacks. Up front, the center of our line did a great job all year, led by Al Davis, and the other returning starters Steve Orcutt and Eric Peterson. Holding the starting positions at tackle were the two giant juniors Bob Taylor and Ron Goldy. Key players in our kicking game were Matt Kofler who punted, and kicked P.A.T.s, and Mac Byers who did the centering for kicks the past two years. I would like to thank all the coaches for their help, time, effort. The players also appreciated the support of the fans and parents through- out the season. Chris Boblit Sports 59

DEFENSE The Patriot Defense started the season on a bad note with injuries to key players Gordon Herrmann and Scott Phillips. Despite these in- juries coaches Joe Kovacevich, Dave Libbey, and Dale Twombley molded us into a solid defensive unit. In the pit, where the games are won and lost, the Patriots had seniors Dan Christman, Jeff Mann, Rick Nelson, Jett Paape, and Bob Waller all of whom did a fine job. Back- ing them up were a fine group of linebackers, led by seniors Neal Fromson, Ken Karsh, Dan Kosic and juniors Keith Bauer, Glen Davis, and Scott Flaming. Playing in the defensive backtield was senior Scott Shively and junior Eddie Wilson Good Luck to next year's team! Neal Fromson 'W' 5 iii sy., c,cs,, ig 58 Sports
