TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS You talkin' to me? V S Jean Aldridge Hugh Embertson The Business Education Dept. offered a vari- ety of elective courses for both personal use and vocational training. These courses en- abled students to learn a salable skill during their high school years. Some of our courses such as Typing and Business Careers trained the students for entry-level jobs, while others provided the opportunity for in-depth voca- tional training in both office and distributive occupational fields. Our marketing classes adopted the PRIDE Program, which completely individualized in- struction. Mrs. Karla Green Department Chairman Karla Green Dgle Hqll Betty Hammontre Eleanor Overton Faculty 281

Q. f Q r David Bassett Carolyn Carey' JGFIG COX READING, WRITING, 8: RE-WRITING The English Dept. expanded its offerings this past year to emphasize development of skills in reading and writing. Four new elective classes were added as part of the new Struc- ture of English program and Sophomore English program was revised to give students more opportunities to gain skills in reading. Many classes were involved in Project Write, a multi media approach to writing skills. Again this past year English teachers have met to share ideas in workshops. We hope that as we modify our program we can help more and more students to excel in all areas of study.,- I ' , 'lx i ii.
