Communication improved this year with an active Student Congress, composed ot classroom represen- tatives. The student Congress is a liason be- tween the A.S.B. Cabinet and the students. In the monthly meetings, important issues were discussed, such as open campus, the smoking area, and lights for the stadium. With the help of Rick Abate and Debbie Weber as Co- chairmen and Debbie Baehr as Secretary, the Student Congress was a success. ln this year following the celebration of America's birthday, the Encounter Staff chose their theme to salute their own community of San Diego. Hailed as one of America's Fin- est Cities , the city by the bay offers a most beautiful setting as a background for the pic- torial review of the school's activities. l would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Bruce Smith and Mrs. Helen Thompson of Herff Jones Yearbooks, and Mr. John Valdez and Mr. Burt Nestor of Busco-Nestor Studios for thoeir invaluable assistance.
