Whether it be the Marching Patriots, the Bel Canto singers, the Drama productions, or the Debate team, this department has entertained the students Q and community for years. Under the leadership of Mr. Arne Christiansen in Music 81 Mrs. Ann Archer in Drama 81 Speech Arts, this department has expanded its instructional 84 extra-curricular program extensively to offer a wide variety of offerings for Patrick Henry students. With a staff of 13 teachers, we are instructing over 2000 students in the sciences. We estimate that near 50 community speakers will be brought in as authorities in the fields and careers of interest to the students. We will be taking classes on field trips to the San Diego Zoo. Wild Animal Park, Tide Pools, among many others. We expect to hurdle many difficulties this year presented by a 55 minute schedule which could severely limit learning experiences we have used in the past. New courses include Chemistry 3-4 and Biology 3-4 both of which should enable students to pass placement exams for as many as eight semester credits at state and university colleges. lf there is a student here interested in science related careers: he will find we are prepared to help him arrive at his goal.
