History 0561444 of l955 We, the seniors of 1955, started on our journey through high school in the fall of 1951 . As freshmen, we had sixteen members in our class: Donald Sloan, Charles Stuckey, Bruce Johnson, Lawrence Hulfachor, Joe Hedge, Ruth Junod, Lou Ann Myrick, Mary Ann Hulfachor, Barbara Schmitz, Paul Stone, Van Gehl, Larry Hartley, Carl Knight, McLove Priestly, Johnny Sloan, and Mettie Foster. This year we had Miss Dulcie Rachels as our sponsor. Barbara Schmitz was our attendant to the basket- ball queen. We entered our sophomore year with a very unusual situation. Four of the girls who had been in our class left, leaving one girl in the class, Loui Ann Myrick. Those who left were Ruth Junod who moved to Vincennes, Barbara Schmitz who was attending the A. I. C. at Ferdinand, Indiana, Mettie Foster who moved to New Albany, and Mary Ann Hulfachor, now Mrs. James Smith. 'We were very thrilled when we ordered our class jackets and graduation rings during the year. Mr. Herman Sollman was our sponsor. Lou Ann Myrick was our attendant to the basketball queen. Bruce Johnson made the varsity basketball team this year. We started our junior year eagerly awaiting the much talked about thrills of junior and senior life. We received our jackets and rings the first part of the year and were very proud to show them off to the other classes. We had a lot of fun giving our play entitled The Antics of Andrew, which was a big success. We gave the junior and senior reception, in honor of the seniors, at the Princeton Country Club. This was a night enjoyed by all and one we'll never forget. We went with the seniors on the annual class trip to St. Louis, Missouri. There we saw many interesting sights: Shaw's Gardens, Jefferson Memorial, and the art museum. But most exciting was the ball game at Busch Stadium. Joe Hedge left us during this year. We were glad to have Mr. Sollman as our class sponsor again in our junior year. Lou Ann Myrick was again attendant to the basketball queen. The junior girl with the help of the two senior girls enjoyed popping pop corn for the ball games. This year we had four boys from our class on the varsity. This year we entered our last year of high school, some anxious to be out and some dreading the last few months of school. We now have eleven members of our class, ten boys and one girl. In September we published the first edition of our paper, The Wrens' Tales. Mrs. Gieseke is our sponsor this year. There has been much excitement making the many preparations for graduation . We are very proud to have all seniors on the first five men in basketball: Bruce Johnson, Van Gehl, Donald Sloan, Paul Stone, and Lawrence Hulfachor. Also, we are very proud of the team's fine record in season play as well as the sectional. Lou Ann Myrick was the basketball queen of 1954-55. Our Baccalaureate was April 24, 1955 and our Commencement was April 25, 1955. Those who have been with us from grades 1-12 inclusive are Donald Sloan, Bruce Johnson, Van Gehl, Paul Stone, Charles Stuckey, Carl Knight, Larry Hartley, Lawrence Hulfachor, and Lou Ann Myrick.
