FOOTBALL The football campaign of 1941, which will go down as the greatest in East- side grid history, came to a climax on December 8, when Coach Dave Ross heard his team acclaimed as the North Jersey Group IV, Section 1, Champions, and a consensus of sports writers present at the annual conference of the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association, named Eastside as the mythical state champions. In their quest for the umythicalw state title the l'Undertakers,' amassed 187 points while their opponents could only account for 20. The Ghosts opened their campaign with Montclair, rated very highly in the state. They took advantage of the breaks and when husky Ted Dostanko crashed through the line to block a Montclair boot deep in their territory, the only score of the day was set up, giving Eastside a 7 to 0 victory over the Mounties. . The second game brought West Orange, a formidable foe, to Baeurle Field. In this tilt the Undertakersn started early and strong and when the final whistle blew, the eleven had rolled up 24 big points, holding the t'Cowboys in check throughout. Following this victory the Orange and Blue moved against Lincoln of Jersey City. They trampled over the I-Iudsonites and with Al Kachadurian slicing through the line, posted a 19 to 6 victory.
