A il W . fllvlljllfw Wi SPEECH CLUB CLUB Eastside's RED CROSS CLUB has been making and presenting Christmas bas- kets to charitable institutions, making collections of discarded clothes for the needy, and similar charitable work. Co-captained by Louis Hammond and Doris Upton, the CHEERLEADERS helped arouse school spirit at the athletic events. Holding parties, educational trips or talks and providing necessary items for the poor children have taken up much time of the HOUSEHOLD ARTS CLUB. The EOOTLIGHTS CLUB attempts to train underclassmen in speech and to develop poise. A schoolwide tourney, won by Wilson Witten, was sponsored by the HORSESHOE CLUB, which is headed by Art Scolari and advised by Mr. Henry Rumana. Ciro Zoppo, Catherine Esperi, John Giovalto and Mary Calabresc lead the MUSIC APPRECIATION

Mrs. S. Kobre supervises the work of the COMMERCIAL CLUB which ac- quaints its members with the conditions and activities of the business World. One of its newest developments is the tutor system, enabling the poorer students to receive help from the club members. The ruling body for girls' sports at Eastside is the LEADERS' CLUB, which admits members only after they have obtained a certain number of athletic points and have been duly initiated. Fluorescent Lightingi' was the subject of this term's assembly presentation of the NATURE-SCIENCE CLUB. Under the guidance of Mr. Eugene Vivian, the group, as an extra activity, edits an interesting science newspaper, The Science Reviewf, which is distributed for only one cent throughout the entire science department. Advised by Mr. Joseph Goldberg, the MATH CLUB, composed of brilliant mathematics fiends, edits a math paper, t'The Math Xu, which makes its ap- pearance once a year.
