fx - L L After a couple of weeks of grue ing practice, the Pateros football squad started the season in a six man game against Manson. fHereQ Pa- teros didn't let them get their touchdowns without a lot of struggling but nevertheless, the score ended at 30-O with the Billygoats on the short end. This was getting started on the wrong foot, and the boys were determined not to let that happen again Our next game, with Entiat, was a bitter fight to the finish for both squads The ball moved to Just a few feet of each goal a number of times, but neither team was able to carry it over for a touchdown. It seems as tho a few of the girls who went along to watch, had a lit tle fight of their own in a way! Pow about that Dot Wagg and Doris D9 The result of the football battle was a tie O O with both teens want ing a return game to make the score a little different The Billygoats traveled to Nespelem for their next enc unter, and experienced another Jolting setback The goats were outplayed on every turn and again came out on the short end of the final score however, Narvin Green scored 9 touchdown in the last half of the game, and Burt Kaesemcyer took the brll over for the extra point Thus far, it was the only touchdown P teros had made in three games It was herrd by way of the grapevine, that the Coach's car got slightly off the be ten track in going to Nesp lem Maybe the student bodv ought to buy him a compass!!! Ah, the g me we hed b en xaiting for, Entiat on home territory Both te ms had blood in their eyes when they clsshed,fnd for the first time in a long while Pateros won a footbrll game!! Yes, Entiet was be ten 14 O by the Billygoats It was a bitter fight but the boys pulled through rarvelously squad Journeyed next to Manson where they were in the lead for a good part of the game But during th last half Henson scored the winning touchdown with only short tim left to play Tho Billygoats made a lot better shoxing tlis time and the score resulted was 19 l4 in favor of the Manson Trogans this time Nespelem was r ally worried vken half time rolled around, but they picked up in the latter half to defeat Pateros 22 O Every one was admiring the sportsmanship of the Nespelem team After all, 1sn't that vhet games are for to create good sportsm nship between schools? You certainly have to hand it to t en when it come to that!
