At our first class meeting we had election of officers. Paul Moris was elected Presidentg Gilbert Key, Vice-President, Marjorie Hermsen, Secretary, and Margaret O'Connor, Treasurer. Norma Govier represent- ed our class on the Student Activity Fund Committee. Miss Humphrey was our class advisor. Joetta McCartney left our class because of difficulty in getting to school and Jackie Key because of a serious case of pink eye, which left twelve Freshmen. In the school year of 1948 and 1949 there were eleven enrolled as Sophomores. Gilbert Key acted as President, Paul Moris, Vice- Presidentg and Margaret O'Connor, Secretary and Treasurer. David Gratz left Patch Grove High to attend Prairie du Chien High School. In our Junior year of 1949-1950, Darleen Pitzer joined our class which again made us eleven. At our election of officers Paul Moris was elected Presidentg Gilbert Key, Vice-President, and Darleen Pitzer, Secretary and Treasurer. On April 14, 1950, we gave the annual Junior Prom. Our theme was nStar Dustn and Paul Moris and Margaret O'Connor reigned as king and queen. The Seniors of 1950 and 1951 were again eleven. Darleen Pitzer left our class to become Mrs. Burdett Hale and Wilma Edge from Mt. Hope joined our class. Paul Moris was again elected President with Marjorie Hermsen acting as Vice-President, and Margaret O'Connor as Secretary and Treasurer. We are sponsoring the HBeaverH yearbook this year for Patch Grove High School. Norma Govier was elected Editor, Loren Feakes, Assistant Editor, Margaret O'Connor, Business Manager and Marjorie Hermseng Class Editor. Paul Moris and Gilbert Key were elected Sports Editors. On September 29 we went to Dodgeville to have our Senior pictures taken. We received them just before Christmas. On December 22, 1950, we held our annual HHoliday Dancen. In the second week in January, Dick Ward left our class to join the United States Air Borne. On May 24, 1951 our Graduation exercises will be held in the New Gym and so the end has come to our many happy years at Patch Grove High School. ll O J umors JOE IIBIR DALE HARRIS Junior Class History In 1948 three members enrolled in the Freshman class. They were Sydney Weigel, Dale Harris, and Joe Weber. The officers were: President, Sydney Weigel, Secretary, Joe Weber, Treasurer, Dale Harris. The Sophomore class opened with the same pupils enrolled. The officers were: President, Dale Harris, Secretary and Treasurer, Sydney Weigel. Student Council Representative was Joe Weber. At the end of the first semester Delbert Brandon enrolled in our class. Later on he quit school. The Junior year opened with Joe Weber and Dale Harris as the only pupils. Sydney Weigel had moved to Oregon. President was Joe Weber and Dale Harris acted as Secretary and Treasurer. At the first class meeting the following offficers were elected: President, Phyllis Jeidyg Secretary, Glen Ward, Treasurer, Evelyn Ouickg Class Representative, Irma Crubaughg and Mrs. Nalan was our class'advisor. Two weeks after school was going, the Sophomores gave an initia- tion dance for the Freshmen. Later the Freshmen gave a return dance. Then Marvin Jochimsen and Carol Borchardt enrolled in school, and after the first semester Janice Redman dropped out and moved to Prairie du Chien. Those who participated in the all school play, NGa1loping Ghostsn were Jean Spangler, Glen Ward, and Theresa Moris. Cheerleading participants were Evelyn Quick and Theresa Moris. The boys on the HAH team were Glen Ward and Clarence Hromadka. The class had their annual picnic at Wyalusing Park. In September, 1950, the Sophomore class had the enrollment of seventeen. Gerry Kasparek and Joan Hinz were newcomers and Janice Redman returned to Patch Grove. The class initiated the Freshmen September 18, and gave them a party that night. The Freshmen gave their return dance on October 27. Those taking part in the all-school play, HBolts and Nutsn were: Phyllis Jeidy, Theresa Moris, Irma Crubaugh, Joanne Hermsen, and Glen Ward. On September 22 the Sophomores initiated us. They gave us a dance where we played records and danced. . We gave them a return dance on October 27th. We had Del Brown and his orchestra for our music. When Toys Come To Life The Junior High and Intermediate Grade gave the musical operetta When Toys Come To Life at their annual Christmas program. Some very fine talent was displayed in this program. Irs. Horn, Irs. Schneider, and Irs. Hood directed this operetta. 19 Primary Room FIRST ROI: Judy Valdovinos, Mary Ann Zenz, Patsy Esser, Dorothy Finn, Buford Spangler, Larry Garside, Ronnie Horsfall, Tommy lason, Walter Harper, and Edward Neises. SECOND ROW: Priscilla Spangler, Frindee Breur, Ginger Key, Twilla Lane, Edward Hillin, Louis Tornowske, Christie Neises, Bruce Weldemann, Arthur Nelses, Gene Curtiss, Jerry lason, Gary Hamilton, and Walter Horsfall. Rhythm Band One of the most interesting musical projects carrrgirfon this year in the grade school was the Rhythm Band. This band consists 'of the entire primary students. The instruments played in the band are the drum, triangles, gourds, tambourines, sticks, sand blocks, rhythm blocks, and jingle bells. The little folks wear black capes lined with gold and black and gold caps that were so expertly made by their mothers. Mrs. Patch and Mrs. Hood are the directors of this group. Millin, better known to the students as HJIIN, is always ready and willing to help at any activities going on at the school being at night or in the daytime. Hot Lunches This is the first year we have had hot lunches in our school. These well balanced meals are prepared by Mrs. Osa Horton and Irs. Harold Govier, in the well equipped kitchen of our new gym. They serve from eighty-five to one- hundred students every day. 'run Lomssouz .nmxons 30 N Patch Grove Public School ,, ,W , L Patch Grove New Gym After many years of contemplation Patch Grove has finally realized its dream of having one of the most modern, largest, and best equipped gyms in southwest Wisconsin. As part of its general equipment, there is a kitchen which is being used for hot lunches and as a concession for ball games. The large stage is well adapted for theatrical and musical performances. The gym court provides an ideal basketball tournament, and playing court. First Senior class meeting. They decided to have their class pictures taken at Dodgeville. Senior Home Economics girls went on shopping trip to Prairie du Chien. Seniors started sales for yearbook. Baseball game with Mt. Hope. We won 14-7. Sophomores gave party for Freshmen that night. Student body had pictures taken for the yearbook. Baseball game with Cassville. The score was 4-3 in our favor. Seniors had a class meeting to decide on transportation to Dodgeville. Seniors went to Dodgeville to have their class pictures taken. Seniors received proofs of their pictures. Baseball game with Potosi. We won 2-0. Cheerleader tryouts. We played Bloomington and lost 3-0. Baseball game with Bagley and we lost 5-1. All school play NBolts and Nutsn was presented. Freshmen gave return dance for Sophomores. Teachers convention. No school the rest of the week. We won over Montfort in our first basketball game of the season 35-24. We won return game with Montfort 46-45. Played Tennyson and won 57-28. Thanksgiving vacation starts. We won over Campion 41-37. Hope and we won 59-36. Seniors gave annual NHoliday Dancen. Christmas vacation starts. Granton played at Patch Grove and beat. Granton played Bagley at Patch Grove. Granton players left for their home town up north. They sure were nice weren't they girls? Basketball boys and Mr. Hood go to Madison to see Illinois and Wisconsin game. School begins again after vacation. We played Tennyson there and won 62-17. Played Bagley here and won 45-42. We played Wauzeka here and lost 57-49. Potosi played here and we won 71-29.
