CALENDAR Sept. 7, 1937-We are pio- neers, the first class to at- tend the Junior High Schools established in Passaic. i May 6, 1938-The Passaic School Band toots its way to success at its first concert. ae A Sept. 8-Eureka! Our first clay in P. H. S.l The An- nex basement remade into a student cafeteria buzzes with excitement on its opening day, April 16, 1939-The sudden death of our beloved principal, Daniel Dahl, fills the entire school with pro- found grief. April 26-With a unanimous vote the Board of Edu- cation appoints Ollo Kennedy, principal, and Miss Reba Eaton, vice-principal. May I2-Under the direction of Mr. Stevens, Pirates of Penzance is given. Sept. 7-Miss Cunningham returns after exchange teaching in Santa Monica, California. Oct. I2-Jitterbug cheers, led by the first and largest all-girl cheering squad in Passaic, replace many old standard cheers. Oct. I4-Garfield National High Champions hand Passaic its only football defeat of the season, I2-6. Nov. I8-The cross country team loses the first County Meet in its history. Nov. 28-Record contribution of S323 is donated to the Red Cross. March, l940+P. H. S. debaters place highest in the state N. F. L. March--Boys and girls alike knit square for Finnish relief blankets. May-P. H. S. debaters place highest in state contest and are sent with Miss Hall to compete in Terre Haute, Indiana. June 84With an Hawaiian setting and the music of Johnny Dee and his Band, our Junior Prom is a very gay affair. Sept. 8-Our dreams come true. We are actually seniors! The new numbers of our rooms, replacing the old letters, confuse us rather than simplify the situa- tion. Sept. I0-The school is saddened by the death of Miss May Badger. Nov. 4fNational Defense is the theme of the Open House Program. Nov. 15-The Senior Class presents the rollicking comedy June Mad to a capacity audience. Nov.-Mrs. Stubba and Miss Manley select the staff for the l94l Echo. Jan. 25, 1941-Red, white, and blue decorations provide a patriotic background and Vince Murphy and his Orchestra furnish the music for our very successful senior dance. Jan. 311239 students set out from the Alma Mater to find their places in the world. Feb. 3-Senorita Florencia Barrios, an exchange teacher from Santiago, Chile, starts the new term at P. H. S. as our own Miss Card leaves for Chile for one year. Feb. 3+Passaic High still attracts a very large num- ber of P. G.'s. Feb. 'I4-Our Henry Aldrich steals the show in the Dramatics Club play, What a Life. March 24+The first meet in the bowling tournament of the intramural sports program opens auspiciously with a strike. April 23-French songbirds perform for members of the French Club the operetta Les Noces de Jean- nette. May 2-The band again raises the auditorium roof with its fourth annual concert. May 23-Mr. Stevens and the Chorus score another musical success with the presentation of Patience May 24-P, H. S. lads and lassies trip the light fan- Qkflhdar tastic at the Junior Prom. June 20-We, the l94l class, bid a final farewell to our Alma Mater at the graduation exercises.
