I-II-Y HE Passaic Hi-Y is composed of three separate groups, the Arnold, Dales, and Blue Hi-Y's. There is a wide scope of activities for all these clubs, ranging from barn dances to bowling tournaments. This year the Blue I-Ii-Y came out on top in bowling and was second in the interclub basketball. ln the fall of l94lO a barn dance was held by this club to celebrate Hallowe'en, and it plans to sponsor dances dur- ing the spring. Last Christmas vacation, besides sending food baskets to the needy, the Arnold I-Ii-Y staged a party for a group of underprivileged children, carrying on an annual custom of community aid, During the l94l season, this club is holding interclub bowling, pool, and table tennis contests in order to develop skill in these sports. lt is also demonstrating, on a map, where most of the accidents in Passaic happen, thus aiding the safety program. JESSIE BURNETT TRI-Y HE Passaic Girls' Tri-Y under the leadership of Mrs. Burnett has been helping the community this year by doing Red Cross work, making afghans and participating in sewing projects. l-lowever, since all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, they do have their fun. Last autumn the Tri-Y held a successful dance. They also spon- sored a spaghetti supper to honor the Passaic l-ligh School football team. This spring the Tri-Y held another dance which was as great a success as the one earlier in the year. The club has also sent three delegates to the Mid-Winter Girl Reserve Conference in Plainfield, which was held on March eighth and ninth. These girls were Jean lnsinna, Catherine Brinley, and Gloria Munsell. During the week of April twentieth to twenty-sixth, the Girl Re- serves all over the nation celebrated their sixtieth anniversary. On Sunday, April twentieth, the Passaic Tri-Y took charge of the Vesper Services at the Y. W. C. A. The week came to a successful close with a birthday party at which some of the Tri-Y girls entertained with a fiesta for which Rose Cardone was responsible. so :FK

.aff President CHARLES GU ERITY Vice-President MAX BLUMENFELD Secretary IRMA COHEN MARGARET ACKMAN Advisers MISS FRANCES BROWN MISS HELENA DENFELD PENNY AID HE Penny Aid is a student organization whose untiring efforts have been directed mainly toward helping the underprivileged. lt is not a publicized agency and endeavors to work quietly. Under the able supervision of Miss Frances Brown and her co-workers, Miss Mary Card, Mrs. Nora Gilson, and Miss Helena Denfeld, this year's campaign has proved most successful. Since the beginning of the war, the Penny Aiders have been in- terested in the plight of the refugees. They have solicited for knitted squares which, in turn, were made into blankets for the Red Cross. So far this year, fifteen blankets have been sent to the war sufferers. Collecting potatoes for our orphan asylum is an annual event. This year the club gathered up half a ton of potatoes which were gratefully accepted by the Home. Another one of its activities is the collection of tin foil, which netted five dollars for the Visiting Nurses' Associa- tion. During the spring a new campaign was launched, the proceeds of which have aided greatly in helping them to continue their fine work. The goal was set for 515150, but more than this was raised.
