LETTER FROM THE EDITOR The word is progress under the direction of Mr. Giles. In the years Mr. Giles has been at Paseo he has done great work. The number of people attending class has in- creased and thanks to Mr. Giles, students here are learning. Surely this great man is a progressive. In my years here at Paseo I have seen a great change for the better. I am sure I speak not only for myself, but also for my fellow classmates when I say thank you Mr. Giles for the excellent educational opportunity you have given us. ■4 For this reason we are proud to dedicate this 1974-75 Paseon to Mr. Giles.

DEDICATION The last three years at Paseo have been exciting and progressive and full of growth. The one most significant factor in these sometimes hectic years which allowed an improved scholastic atmosphere and a return to stability, has been the presence of Willie A. Giles. “Fair is the word most often used to describe you. Mr. Giles. You have consistently allowed us to grow, to act as young adults, and to have a voice in our education. Your door is never closed and you listen with patience, understan- ding and warmth to our ideas, even when they’re slightly off-beat. Seniors feel a special need to say thank you. Mr. Giles. You have made our building a nicer place to remember because of your way of bringing order out of the chaos we remember from our freshman year. The food is better, the halls are cleaner, we’ve kept our good teachers. And you are responsible for all of that. And so with affection and gratitude, we dedicate this Paseon of 1975 to you. Mr. Giles. Some say Paseo is the Harvard of the inner city and we’re very proud of that title. And we feel proud of your efforts, as well as our own. in earning that respect from our sister schools. Those of us who leave this year, leave with honor and dignity. Those of us who will come back next year, and the year after, look forward to your continued guidance and support. We know it has not always been easy for you to insist on excellence. We know that some people questioned some of your struggles in our behalf. And we thank you and we want you to know that we know you were always on our side. You have made a difference in our school, in our attitudes and in our awareness. We are thankful to have known you.
