UNSSOUH Wood, drafting, metal and printing compose the curriculum of the lndus- trial Arts Department. With the addi- tion this year of a linotype machine, the printing department has become a complete print shop. Now the lino- type machine is used to print the Paseo Press with a considerable savings of time and money. Mr. La Verne Cable, vocal music instructor, is director of A Cap- pella Choir and Girls' Choir. His leisure time is spent directing his church choir, hunting and fishing. U 'ii 55 558 Mrs. Beatrice Jourdan, music teacher, is on the National Honor Society Committee. She enjoys playing bridge. Bach to Bernstein- the sound of music. Music is a vital part of many a Paseoiteis course of study. ln the field of vocal music students may progress from beginning music to A Cappella Choir and Girls' Choir. Band i and Orchestra further each pupills experience in performing with an instrumental group. Annually, student musicians perform at A Missouri's state-wide instrumental and vocal Mn Mr. arts and i contests. They bring well-deserved honor to themselves and in turn to Paseo. Whether a student displays his talents with a vocal or instrumental group or just listens, he can be proud of Paseoas reputation in the field of music. ' Mr. M. L. Cater, geometry and instrumental m u s i c instructor, spends his outside time as the conductor of the All-City Orches- tra. He is also a Lieutenant Col- onel in the U. S. Marine Corps. Miss Martha Lappin, physical education instructor, is sponsor of Peppettes and the girls' Swim- ming Club. She likes to play the piano. Daily calisthenics for physical fitness are also offered to keep the boys in top shape. . Girls, too, keep physically fit with an appropriate athletic program. Soccer, volleyball, hockey, basketball, softball and swim- ming are enjoyed by all who participate. The active intramural program at Paseo is designed not only to develop a keen sense of competition, but also to develop the 1n- centive to win as well as the ability to lose gracefully. Miss Nell Mitchell, physical edu- cation instructor, is the sponsor of the cheerleaders. Her interests include church work, bowling and gardening. 5 Q J Q Mr. C. O.
