Miss Rose McMaster Mr. Miller's job, in his third year at Paseo, is counseling jun- iors and eighth graders. His duties include helping eighth graders make a good start and administering tests. Miss Ruth Norris f' . eounselorsj work is never done. Miss Norris, counselor for sophomores and incoming eighth graders, has now served seven- teen years at Paseo. Vice Principal since 1959, he has been responsible for the complex task of organizing students' pro-grams and classes for our large enrollment. Besides greeting us daily with announce- ments over the public address system, our principal presides over all academic functions and is responsible for all facets of activ- ities at Paseo. Al- though students are required to complete only three years of English, in which they study grammar and literature, many take senior literature and composition, a course which enables serious students to gain a fuller understanding of the growth and develop- ment of the English language. Paseo's de- voted English teachers use recordings, motion pictures, and slides to enrich study in this area. An important facet of Paseo's English department is the newswriting class. Here students with journalistic talent learn writ- ing skills which help them to bring honor to Paseo at the annual Missouri Interscholastic Press Association Convention.
