' P As I was thumbing through the K. C. Star of Iune, 1962, I noticed the name of one of my former classmates. Wonder- ing what had happened to the rest of them I looked on through the paper and GUESS WHAT? P P ? A headliner on the front page informs me that Clark Cunningham is running for mayor again and George Cohen is still making his speeches for him, and much to my amaze- ment Paul Barker after years of medical study is now head of the Sanitation Department fbetter known as the garbage collector, with his assistant Sally Marshall fdriving the truckj. The iooth accident victim of the year was Richard Kyger who fell from his car while driving. Wonder where he had been! ! ! ! The first woman thief has at last been identified as Anxious Ann. Caught while trying to rob the mansion of one of K. C.'s Bigger Businessmen, Mr. Smith', Goldberg. Of international importance is Bernie Papin who is Oscar setting in Europe and of local importance is Ruth Hall, she is still trying to build a stadium for the high school students. At Last! , And look at this, Gerry Viditto best dressed gal of her senior class has been picked as one of the ten worst foh, excuse me, slip of the typewriter of coursej, best dressed women of the world. A few of the noticable want ads are these: Wanted by Dave Herron -one good dancing partner. Wanted by Virginia Wood--one good set of vocal cords. Wanted by Bob Nusser-one good comb. A couple of the personals brought back old memories. Here's one: Marcia, will walk you home after basketball practice. Ioe Prue Wondering what I would do this evening I turned to the pages to see what was going on around the city. First thing that hit my eyes was: featured for tonight was the match at Paseo Gym with Babbling Babs Brunn vs. The Fabu- lous Frisbie with campain managers Laughing Leslie and Official Oberf' Showing at the Rockhill are two good movies Sailor Beware starring Marg. Messick, Edith Maxwell, and Lynn Walters. The second show is Monday's Jerk a sequel to Saturday's Heron starring the one and only Paul Thorp. Hey, look what's on the stage at Old Esquire! It's Karen Holmgren's new play that she wrote and is starring in herself. It's called Kaptivating Karen and her Kan-Kan Kutiesn featuring Barbara fBubblesQ Rosedahl, Carolyn fCuddlesj Brown and Ianet Uazzyj Shields. Zealous Zaun supplies the background music with her 48 piece ukelele orchestra. Looking at the funnies I always get a laugh. Ioe Palooka has a new manager. Big Bill Davis. Well it's Sadie Haw- kin's Day again in Dogpatch and Daisy Mae Kaser is just waitin' for that gun to go off. A I see Artist Sankey is up to his old art tricks again as I look on the editorial page. He is cartooning Senator Kiss the baby-win the voten Kabrick. On this page we also read Dr. Cullison's article The First Tooth I Ever Pulled . . . CCall Gr. oooo to order your Howers for Mr. Robert Melson. Radio soap operas are still in big demand, Isee that lust Plain Bob fVVoodsonj is still on and Iohn's Other Wife fBetty Io Keyesj is the favorite of the fellas. As far as murder mysteries The Green Hornet has been changed to the The Spideru and Harry fLong Legsj Galiin is the master detective with K'Ever-ready Ed Chimenti' as his assistant. Oh well now let's see whats on T.V. these days. Space Cadets is still my favorite program and you'd never guess who's Hying the ship-Sue Wright! Doyce Gentry takes care of the guns, singing Who do you know? Oh and Howdy Doody-they had to get a whole new cast-the others were too old and here's the new cast. Dixie Bell Barrett the clown is superb and as far as Oil Well Wayne fProth-eroej there's nothing like him. A few of the others are Dilly Dally Dick Garner and Buffalo Bob Bennett. Well that's all of today's news. I might as well, Oh . . . here's an article I missed on the front page. I see here that Mr. Luther Crocker has been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor by Pres. William Stevens for courage in the face of danger. He has taught the Paseon Class for IS years. It's time for me to fold up the paper now and put it away, but I shall never fold up or put away the wonderful memories of my happy days at dear Paseo High. 27
