Health Room Assistants These seven senior girls were chosen by Miss Powers, the school nurse, as her assist- ants in the health room. They helped with the freshmen and senior tuberculin tests and co-sponsored with the Paseo P.T.A., the Christmas T.B. stamp sales. Office Assistants Assisting in the office each day, these girls gain valuable experience in typing, filing, and office routine. Aside from this, they are the girls who write admits and assign overtime. Book Crew Jim Ross, captain, makes sure that the book crew gets the English Library books to the right place at the right time. History Committee The School History Committee has the job of keeping the Paseo Scrapbook up to date with the clippings from the newspaper and other sources. A. A. U. W. Betty Ann Schmuck, top-ranking senior, is chairman of this group of girls who were selected in their freshman year for their scholastic ability. A. A. U, W. Traffic Squad The badge of the Traffic Squad, worn this year by eighty-eight junior and senior boys chosen for their character and leader- ship, commanded respect for those responsif ble students who gave an hour of each day to supervise and correct traffic in the halls and cafeteria. Help shortages in the cafeteria were allevi- ated by the carry-away plan for dishes in- stituted by the Squad. The boys also kept students out of the halls during lunch hours and away from their lockers in class times. Mr. J. C. Bond was sponsor for the first semester, and Mr. Lawrence Cannon served the second semester. Red Cross Council As shown in the adjoining picture, Har- riet Bigus, Betty De Jarnette, Marie Schmidt, Shirley Klevatt, John Larberg, Bob Ingels, and Jerry Kaplan, under the direction of Miss Pauline Wolfe, are the charitably- minded persons who represent Paseo in the city-wide Red Cross Council. They attended all meetings of the Council and brought back information to the school. Filling the veterans' Christmas boxes was under their supervision, as was the annual Red Cross membership drive.
