H. S. lf. . .sometime, somewhere. . .this becomes for you a book of pleasant memories, then our labors will not have been in vain. First and last, from beginning to end, the 1959 Pirate has been written for you, our friends and classmates, and it is in your sight that we hope it will find favor. Venimus, vidimus, vicimus. Everyone knows the well-known words, We came, we saw, we conquered. But few realize the real meaning of them. We SENIORS have already come, seen, and now hope to conquer. The teachers with their guidance and help have laid a good foundation for our fu- tures. VICTORYwill surely be ours with all we have gained. ., evgvfg W XXX I' . It is the completion of the first stage of your preparation for a full and useful life. Education begins at birth and extends through life. The need for more and more education is an increasing neces- sity for one who hopes to compete successfully in a tech- nical age. It is my hope that you will continue your education through every resource at your command. You have honored Pasco High School as a student. As a graduate you have it within your power to bring further honor to your Alma Mater through service to your fellow- man. dzeffff Chester W. Taylor, jr. HEYLER A. B. , Bowling Green College of Commerce LL. B. , LaSalle University M. Ed. , Pennsylvania State University I congratulate you, the members of the Class of 1959, upon the completion of your public school education in a period in the history of your country that deals with the atom and space travel. The desire to fix the World in a familiar pattern is an ambition of age, not of youth. Society's natural state of being is motion and fluidity, not stability, and youmust learn to live naturally and be at home in a world so constituted. You need fear it no more than a falcon fears the wind, or a salmon fears the current of the river. Then Victory will come to you as surely as tomorrow. God's plan does not contemplate the defeat of a generation proving itself so gloriously. l, therefore, bid you step forth without fear, but with the consciousness of a high destiny, determined to bend the World you will inherit to the pattern of your ideals. Finally, Iwould recall for your inspiration and guidance these words of Holy Writ: Seest thouaman diligent in his business '? He shall stand before kingsg he shall not stand before mean men. So live your lives that when that great day comes it may be said of you what is said in Timothyg I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. l have kept the faith. E. D.
