With our deepest grati- tude we say thank you , Mr. Royce Johnson. Y 'GREETINGS TO THE CLASS OF 1958 O. S. Bandy, Principal As we look back over four years of high school and remember our companions of former years, we become aware of the fact that many who entered high school have fallen by the wayside. Not all who are graduating this year have been with us throughout the four years As some drop out, others come along to take their places. We might ask ourselves, then: Are we the same people who entered high school four years ago? What has happened to those of us who are graduating this year? Some have changed more than others, surely. We hope the changes are all for the better. Yet we know that we have made mistakes, and that some of these mistakes have not been completely corrected. It is the wish of the faculty that each and every member of the graduating class may have learned to recognize and correct his own mistakes in school and .in life after school days h e passed. As you leave this institut' and go out into the highways of life, our best wishes got with you. May you ever r ve to exhibit those qualities and attributes which will build for you and yours a h p nd ,uccessful life. Very sincerely yours, O.S. Not only those who served as sponsors and class officers, but, also, those who gave advice, encour- agement, and aid during the past twelve years. Without this counsel we feel sure we would have been compelled to give up long ago. We will take these lessons with us as we step into the Future and when a sudden footfall appears we can remember and be thankful . Most sincerely, P.H. Senior Class Prophecy The soft summer breezes stir the leaves of stately magnolia trees. ln the garden can be heard the merry voices of happy people discussing their past, present, and future. This is Pasco High's Graduation Class of l958. After 20 years they have met to renew old acquaintances. For iust one moment let us dig into their immediate pasts and bring ourselves up to date. The first group we see is apparently appalled by the world famous Louie Mims. Louie became a world traveller after graduation. His latest episodes have found him in the wildest jungles of darkest Africa .... hunting lions! While there he was quite amazed to find Phyliss Bolocanoff, lady missionary, and her traveling campanions who have formed an African Choir, Audria Aughtman and Shirlene Huffstutler. Talking with Louie are Diane Murray, Hollywood film director, Marthelle Diffenwierth, Scriptwriter, and Mona Hall, producer of Starlight Films lnc. Standing by with an ear ready for news is Mary Agnes Cleveland, reporter for Filmo Magazine. The Tennis Court is occupied by America's Champion women tennis players, Marie Hamby and Jeanette Pinkston. They are now engaged in a show of their artistic work. Near the Tennis Court sit the famous physician, Pat Smith and two talent scouts for Donald Surrency's Playhouse Pluto, Harriet Reppard and Margaret Lawerence. Talking with them is the well known political speaker, Judy Touchton. One of her most recent accomplishments was the establishment of peace among the Russian and American Colonies on the moon. At the swimming pool we find our President W.D. Townsend. And, as always, near him is his private Detective, Wayne McKendree. Not like most Presidents, Dee indulges in card- playing instead of Golf. To carry him to and from his favorite spot in New Orleans he has private plane and pilots. Bill May, Joe Nicholson, and Rusty Slough are very efficient at this. The other political personalities are Bobby Goldsby, a Florida Senator, Nina Madill, Congresswoman, and Joan Bartle, Secretary of the Treasury. The United States Government is also honored by having engaged the skills of Secretary of Defense, Titus Brinsonp Secretary of Agriculture, Bob Northrupi and Soil Conservationist Harold Croft. Harold is explaining his most recent report of the possibilities of farming on mars. Approaching this group are the enthusists from the tennis court who have been joined by the ever rising surgeon, Merrill Stebbins and the great space traveler, Joe Caruso. Joe has just completed a best-seller on his explorations of Pluto. Accompanying them are three of 72 Dee's bodyguards, Gerald Tait, Tommy Beaver, and Kenneth Polk. Up from the pool, near the Patio, stands Sandra Rose, the world's greatest scientist and winner of the Nobel Prize of 1976. Sharing in the glory is her sufficient helper Janet Rhymer. They are gayly discussing their travels in Italy with the famous artist Mildred Brinson and a grand writer of great adventure novels Donald Maples. Just inside the library we find our hostess, Carole Stephens, a model for the Melanie Groover Lady's Fashion Salone in downtown Dady City. She is explaining her collections of odd paintings to Linda Cusmano, of the Cusmano Modeling agency and their fashion designer Eulala McDaniel. Examining other paintings nearby is Charlotte Lane and Betty Gay, owners and operators of the Gay-Lane beauty salon. With them are the architects who designed this old Southern Mansion, James Johnston, Clayton Hutcheson, and Nelson Smith. Also we find Roxine Bullington of the Bullington Car Manufacturing Company and her designer Charles Pire. More interested in the books in the library are Jean Beck, Tommy Breedon, and Ellen Russell. They are on the employment list at Charlie Crawford's publishing company. Discussing the latest books and possible best sellers of the future are Doris Fleming Dade City Librarian, Mary Alice Parker, illustrator for various authors and Barbara Stanley, columnist for Bobby Brooks Newspaper Of Dade City. Leaving the library we next ioin a group of horse lovers out near the corrals. Outstanding in this group is Florida's finest horse woman, Barbara Hester. She is telling Bill Swann, horse trainer for Johnny Harrell who owns the finest horses in Kentucky, of her most appealing tricks. Just as interested is Lucy Prince. In the past years she has spent most of her time traveling. Over near the car port we find James Pike, dare-devil motorcyclist in Jimmy Sweat's circus, and Perry Tait, toy Manufacturer. Sitting in on this conversation is Brooks Roseman, lion tqmer, Barbara Gandy, Trapeze artist, and Gene Ransey, elephant trainer. Joining them is the Pro-football star Gene Alford and the finest nurse at Bobby Bennett's Hospital for Dogs, Barbara Bailey, and Daytona Beach sport car racer, James Barthle. Our attention is suddenly drawn back to the swimming pool as psychologist La Void Chitty performs his daring high dive. Looking on is comedian of the Bobby Campbell Week- ly, William Brannen. Quite amazed by LaVoid's antics are the Paris Fashion Consultants Elizabeth Burnsed and Mary Butler. Enioying the sun by the pool are Wanda Conner, interior Decorator, Albert Chapin, who has iust found a new theory to help the Dept. of Sun-Explor- ation, and Louise Denton, Secretary for the George Dew Actor's Society. Waiting for a tid- 73 bit of earthly news to take back to his home on Neptune is Hemispherian reporter, Jimmy Homan. Another very interesting group is lead in conversation by John Ducker, Professor of English at Florida's State University. His fellow faculty member, Tom Edwards, from the scientific department, and the Dean of women, Mary Hallman are deeply engrossed in this talk. Dis- cussing the life of a teacher with them is Barbara Douglas, English teacher at Pasco and Marjorie Eldridge, Dramatic coach also at Pasco. Standing ever near is Pasco's principal, David Etheridge. From the Patio comes the splendid tones of Barbara Parker, star of the opera, Bernardo, written by Sara Johnson which has just completed its third year at Gene Kane's broadway theatre. Among her admirers we find Bruce Elder, Chief of Police, Dorothy Gant, accountant for Sandy Newland's law firm, and Sandy's top lawyer Paul Miner. None-the-less enthusi- astic are four airline hostesses for the Eastern Airlines: Caroline Mullins, Carolyn Mickler, Judy Mickler, and Marjorie Messer. Back inside, near the refreshment bar we find Lettie Mae Merritt, probatonist and Jerry Johns, actor who graduated from the Jane King - Verna Hudson Actor's College. Here, too, we find the famed lecturer Kathleen Kirkman. Her most recent tour took her to Wyoming for a visit to Pat Loy's Dude ranch. Her main reason for going here was to lecture at Barbara Lingo's finishing school. Entertaining with their juggling act are Myrtle Pire and Wyley Rosier. Completelyenthralled by all this is our French ambassador, Patricia Roberts and our ambassador to the German colonies on Venus, Russell Purvis. The group near the piano is being entertained by the greatest masterpiece of John Simler. The.masterpiece is being beautifully played by Billy Wilder, the finest pianist to ever play at Camegie Hall. Listening quite earnestly is the great classical critic Ralph Webb, and the famous orator, Gary Fagen. Here too, we find the advertising agents for Kenneth Griffen Baby Food Manufacturing Inc., Wanda Fleming and Marcella Mackey. Surely, you remember Norman Higgins. He has become a spaciologist for Johnny Stewart's Inc., manufacturers of space suits. He is recently back from Saturn where he has studied the weather conditions for proper wear. It spurs the .heart to action and it goads the will to do The very best that's in 'a man and it thrills him thru and thru. Now, it's another thing to lose the match, yet hold the head up high And slap the fellow on the back who dared you to the try, And give him honest praise for a job that was well done, Though your eyeballs may be bloodshot and the licking wasn't fun! There is something gained by losing that the winner doesn't seeg The guy who's flat upon his back has opportunity A chance to show the victor when the scrap is done and o'er That manhood isn't conquered tho you're beaten to the core. Real manhood isn't measured by the pennants on the wall. There's a heap of human courage in the guy who takes the fall. But manhood's test of ages, matters not nor where nor when, Is how you treat the other when you lose or when you win. Yes, it's sweet to hear the accolade of those who saw the fight And hear them cheer with loudest voice when you fought with all your might. But the sweetest of all music, after all the grand parade, ls the self respecting record of how you fought or how you played. aooooooooooooooooooooooc l Varsity Offense Varsity Defense JUNICR - VARSITY To Pasco High's JUNIOR-VARSITY football team goes a tribute of high honor.
