A comprehensive program ot preparation tor marriage and the family, which includes every- thing from cooking to house cleaning to sewing to care al children, is of- fered by this department. Just to make certain that all this prepara- tion does not go tor naught because ot the man that got away, a course in cosmetology is also offered, Betty Hefferlin, Bonnie Teixeira, and Sheila Dickson get some practice in all stages of meal preparation: cooking, bak- ing, and cleaning up afterwards. Homemaking classes made their own forms, then proceeded to sew their own clothes. Classes in sewing woolens and cottons and also tailoring were available.

'rf 1 Ayifhj ff Gagging it up to represent the different languages taught at PHS are Mary Fowler, French, lseatedl, Alex Doohovskoy, Russian, Richard Ward, Latin, Clemente Troncoso, Spanish, and Jim Parry, German. Throughout history the language barrier has been a stumbling block to human progress. It is the aim and purpose of the Department of Foreign Language to help eliminate this barrier through better understanding ot the various tongues. At PHS, the student has a wide choice of languages: German I, II, French I, II, II, Spanish I, II, II, IV, and Latin Ill, IV. The business department offers training tor a great many vo- cations including stenographer, re- ceptionist, typist, IBM operator, and bookkeeper. In addition to their vo- cational value, many ot the courses have a great deal of personal worth, such as typing, shorthand, and book- keeping.
