When the Campus first decided to bring its readers Inside PHS, there was little disagreement among staff members as to what single item should be fea- tured. Their overwhelming choice was PEOPLE. Why People?-because it's People who give a school a Personality, and Pasadena High School has Plenty of both-People and Personality. People, after all, do come in assorted sizes, shapes, and kinds. We have big people, small people, thin people, stout people, intelligent . . . provocative . . , extraordinary . . , ordinary . . . wise . . , foolish . , . handsome . . . appealing People-and then some. What makes People exciting? lt must be their unique- ness--each one a different person-no two alike, and yet in most ways similar. ln what ways similar and in what ways different we have not tried to differentiate in the l958 Campus. Between these covers, we be- lieve we have captured that elusive ingredient that points up the distinctiveness of People Inside PHS.

N ,Qu sfQff.ffffv:: dedication Mrs. Jessie Chittenden must come very near to heading up the list of proud and distinctive People PHS calls its own. ln March of this year, Mrs. Chitten- den, who had served as assistant prin- cipal here since PHS' revival four years ago, moved across campus to the city college to perform counselor's duties. Jolly, talented, and hard-working, Mrs. C. seemed always available to students and teachers, and other fellow workers who constantly sought her ad- vice and warm friendship. In addition to her official duties, Mrs. Chittenden's artistic ability showed up in many more posters, banners, bul- letins, place cards, and in floral ar- rangements, table settings, and office decorations than full credit has ever allowed. Like everything else we take for granted, her presence at PHS was not fully appreciated until she took up her new tasks at PCC. Despite these new duties elsewhere, we still label you, Mrs. Chittenden, as being one of our very own-among PHS' grandest People. 7
