s sz W President Completes Fourth ' Year: Sights Set Toward ,fr z., College Expansion. A dynamic Christian minister and administrator, Dr, Shelburne Brown 3 , assumed the challenge of the presidency of Pasadena College in l964. As president he has been singularly successful. This year, at his sug- gestion, a master plan which will guide the physical growth of the college campus for twelve to fifteen years was adopted by the Board of Trustees. His fine rapport with the constituency will undoubtedly be 4 Uh' instrumental in the realization of this plan. Yet, even though presidential responsibility requires extensive travel and administrative work, Dr. Brown still maintains excellent rapport with the student body. Students look forward to his Friday chapel talks, for he is in touch with modern trends of thought and action, and strives to put contemporary events in Christian perspective. l-le also takes time to sponsor the ski club and golf team, and he is a familiar sight on the front row at all the basketball games. Perhaps the reason for his success is reflected by the words he spoke extemporaneously at the i967 Nazarene Student Leadership Confer- ence: My dream for Nazarene colleges and you as students is that our whole student bodies would be infected with the idea that we are training world civilization - a world civilization that is so lamed in the area of motivation . . . lf only we could convey this spirit of stepping out to make a positive contribution as a leader to the :- students of our schools, until every one of them were imbued with the idea that we are destined to serve in the coming world civiliza- tion. We have a place of importance, and it is not enough to get an education for an income, but we must make an impact on our day and the future. Dr. Brown takes time out to relax after a hard day at the desk. D,-I Gnd Mrs, Brown in fheir home- President Brown qddregstng Friday Chgpel, Mrs. Sorweide, secretary to the president. ,L ,
