QQ fi r. Director: 968 La Sierra Dedicatee Alma Mater Nestled near the high Sierras, Graced by palm and pine, Stands our noble Alma Mater, Strong in truth divine. Friendships formed upon our campus Shall enduring be, For with God we stand united, Bound by love are we. Refrain: Lift her banner, Spread her glory Over land and sea, Ever loyal to our college, Pasadena C. by Chester C. Crill ., li wwf aG? X . . . 5 ' WWW Perhaps a performance for a civic group by the Chamber Singers, the pre- sentation of the Christmas Pageant by the Bresee Chapel Choir, or a program of patriotic music by A Cappella Choir for Hungarian refugees at the Tenth Anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution celebration. One thing is quite certain: Dr. Crill is always preparing for a major perform- ance somewhere. What is true now has been true throughout his career- he has consistently withstood the rigors of performances before demand- ing audiences for thirty-three years. Dr, Crill came to Pasadena College in T947 well-prepared to assume the chairmanship ofthe Division of Fine Arts, As an undergraduate at Green- ville College, he had been a member of the college quartet, president of his senior class, and yearbook editor. His graduate studies were com- pleted at the Eastman School of Music, as well as the University of Oklahoma. lRefer to page 32.l The leadership of Dr. Crill has been instrumental in making the Division of Fine Arts an integral part of college life and constituent relations. Over 200 students participate in the six choirs and band. He continues to be very creative, and is known for the spirit with which he welds his choirs into a unit. Pasadena College recognized his contribution by conferring upon him an honorary Doctor of Music degree at the T966 Commencement. On that occasion it was aptly said of him: Through the quality of his spirit, the sharing of his talent in music, and his service to higher education, he has enhanced the academic life of the campus, the fellowship of the church, and the culture of mankind. 3 1- .
