H.S. Mrs. Margaret Right- mire was a teacher at P.H.S. for 17 years, where she was a 1975 class sponsor for four years. While at P.H.S. she was the advisor for the FNA and was voted by the class of 1973 as Favorite Teacher at P.H.S. We owe a great deal to Mrs. Rightmire, more than words can express. She showed no favoritism and was totally devoted to her teaching skills. Mrs. Rightmire, we wish you all the happiness in the world in return for the happiness you have shared with everyone at P.H.S. through your gleaming smile and your thoughtfulness!!! 36 The Senior Class History FRESHMEN 1971-1972 We were freshmen, eager to start what others before us had already done. That year, we had to start choosing things for ourselves. Some of those things are written here. MOTTO: We will not stop 'til we strive to the top! COLORS: Green and Gold. FLOWER: Yellow Mum. ANIMAL: Alligator. Our sponsors were: Bucky Stewert, Margaret Rightmire, Ruth Mullenex, and Charlie Lloyd. Our officers were: Presi- dent Clifford Martin, V. President Phyllis Helmick, Secretary Barb Cunningham, Treasurer Robert Roy, and Cheerleader, Beverly Bright. SOPHOMORES 1972-1973 This year we were sophomores. We thought we owned the world and all that was in it. We thought we knew it all, and thought it was the best year of all. This was the year that the girls won the championship game in the class tournaments. We changed our class animal from an alligator to a leprechaun. Our class sponsors changed as did our officers. Our sponsors were: Ruth Mullenex, Margaret Right- mire, Charlie Lloyd, and Steve Delaney. Our officers were: President Dave Kyle, V. President, Gary Gutshall, Secretary, Barb Cunningham, Treasurer, Clifford Martin, and Cheerleader, Tina Mahoney. JUNIORS 1973-1974 As Juniors we had the prom to look forward to as well as raising a lot of money by selling light bulbs, flower bulbs, and sold candy and pop at ball games. When Prom night came around, the theme was Colour My World, and the group was Straight Up from Keyser. Again our sponsors and officers changed. The sponsors were Steve and Jenny Delaney, Ruth Mullenex and Glenn Patsey. The officers were Clifford Mar- tin , President, Debbie Kisamore, V. President, Diane Wilfong, Secretary, and Brenda Booth, Treasurer. SENIORS 1974-1975 We're Seniors and it's our year. The year we leave our wills and prophesy to you all. And most of all the year we leave it all behind. The Juniors put on the prom for us with the theme being something between Summer Breeze and Moonlight and Roses. We decided to take our Senior trip with Mountaineer to Kenny wood Park and to Three Rivers to see the Pirates. The sponsors for this year were: Ruth Mullenex, Julia Amos, Gleen Patsey, and Steve Delaney. The officers were: Rick Pitzer, President, Debbie Kisamore, V. President, Barb Cunningham, Secretary, and Bev- erly Bright, Treasurer. Baccalaureate was held at the First United Methodist Church and Graduation was set for June 3. PHS Seniors of 75 say thanks for the memories. 37 Sensational Seniors PRESIDENT---- VICE PRESIDENT SECRETARY --- TREASURER---- ......RICK PITZER --DEBBIE KISAMORE BARB CUNNINGHAM —BEVERLY BRIGHT COLORS----------------Green and Gold-------------------MASCOT-----------Leprechaun MOTTO----------------------------------------We will not stop 'til we strive to the top!!! As the last flame of our bonfire sizzles out and the field's lights are turned off I realize for the first time the heartbreak of being a senior. Remembering how every year we’ve heard I don’t want to graduate and only laughed at others tears. Now the part of our home field that belonged to us for the past years isn't ours anymore. We've played our last game here. All we can do is leave our part of that field to the future teams of PHS. Our victories, our defeats, our looking forward to the next home game, it's all over. Seeing our Panthers walk up the hill from the fieldhouse and charge out on our field to be introduced by the announcer and hear the school song being played, it's all over. The tears, the fears, the excitement, the fun, it’s all over for us because we're seniors. And the way we feel is the same way everyone who ever graduated from here probably feels. No matter what the records show, we were a great team because we were close, we had pride, and we had spirit, and now it's all over and all we have is memories. 119 Dave Kyle Clifford Martin Sid Sponaugle Randy Jones Dave Knotts Lester Tacy John Jones Terry Ramsey Randy Hedrick Bill Holler Rick Corcoran Jim Shupp, Mgr. Students boycotted from their classes that day after a unanimous decision by the board to not rehire our princi- pal, Mr. Swank. Students carried signs of protest and chanted things such as We Want Swank and No Swank, No School. Following the protest, at the next Board meeting, parents, teachers, and students flocked into the meeting. There were spokespersons from the three groups: Danette Booth, for the students; Mr. Klus, for the teachers; and Don Goss, for the parents. The Board went into executive session that night and came up with a ' Supplement to Attendance Policy which stated that anyone during school hours who boycotted classes would quilty of a misdemeanor and would be excluded from all schools in Tucker County receiving no credit for any courses he or she is taking. Saturday, May 10, there was another protest across from the Board office attended by parents, teachers and students. 136 BOOSTERS Ham ley Press 316 Shop Fidelity Finance David G.
