DANNY LYNN WADE RONALD LEE WHITE EDINA FAE WILLIAMS Top Ten Grads 26 Class History We, the Senior Class, leave PHS with some of the happiest and most cherished memories of our lives. It has been four years of work, determin- ation, and fun. We hope you will enjoy this yearbook as much as we will when in the future we take a backward glance. Freshman '66 With 80 members, the Freshmen of 1966 entered PHS as the smallest class in many years. Their officers were Danny Wade, president; Doris Sha- han, vice-president; Tom Gutshall, secretary; Scott Hovatter, treasurer; Car- olyn Weese, cheerleader. Student Council representatives were Doris Sha- han, Carl Grandstaff, and Scott Hovatter. Their appointed sponsors were Mrs. Ruth Mullenax, Mr. Howard Ashby, and Mrs. Diane Bennett. Sophomore '67 As Sophomores, the 81-member class tried to add a few dollars to their penniless treasure by selling peanuts and candy. We went to the State Basket- ball Tournament and one of our boys, Kenny Smith, made State All-Touma- ment Team. We elected as our officers Edina Williams, president; Rita Tur- vey, vice-president; Doris Shahan, secretary; Bradley Ramsey, treasurer; Car- olyn Weese, cheerleader. Student Council representatives were Brian Bennett, Edian Williams, and Anne Kee. Class sponsors were Mr. Chuck Raad, Mr. Howard Ashby, and Miss Karolyn Lowther. Junior '68 With the Junior-Senior Banquet coming up, the Junior Class was busy selling sweatshirts and candy; they were also in charge of the bookstore. Class officers were Edina Williams, president; Rita Turvey, vice-president; Tom Plumley, secretary; Randy Moore, treasurer; Patty Pennington, cheerleader. Student Council representatives were Lois Morrison, Cora Rummel, and Tom Gutshall. Class sponsors were Mr. Howard Ashby, Mrs. Ruth Mul- lenax, and Miss Karolyn Lowther. Senior ’69 With 58 students, one of the smallest classes to graduate since 1946, we leave with many cherished memories. We set a new PHS football record, 8-2. We also find that Mr. Howard Ashby is our only sponsor to have been with us all four years, for our final officers we elected Anne Kee, president; Brian Bennett, vice-president; Cora Rummel, secretary; Rita Turvey, treasur- er; Edian Williams, cheerleader. Student Council representatives were Anne Kee, Tom Gutshall, Bradley Ramsey. Class sponsors are Mr. Howard Ashby, Mrs. Ruth Mullenax, and Miss Karolyn Lowther. This page is sponsored by PAT J. GARY HALLER Manager COACH MOORE'S COMMENT: While the 1968 Parsons High School football team was not the strongest physically that ever played here, you would have to search long and hard to find a stronger moral and spiritual group of fellows. Coupled with this was a strong dedication to a cause that resulted in the best record ever attained by a PHS football squad. It was an honor and privilege to work with such a group of young gentlemen. This page is sponsored by DR. and MRS. GUY H. MICHAEL 53 Parsons opened their season against their county rivals as they swamped the MOUNTAINEER BEARS 31-6. The Panthers showed a potent offense and a stone-wall defense. The Panthers traveled to BEALLE only to feel the agony of defeat as they faced a strong BEALLE squad. The Gutshall boys never got rolling and were defeat- ed 34-0. The cheering section accompanied the team in a chartered bus. The home boys returned to their field to stomp the ST. FRANCIS TROJANS by a score of 44-19. The PHS gridders had no trouble throughout the game. In the annual Homecoming game the Panthers over- came a 19 point deficit in the second half to defeat the MASONTOWN PIONEERS 32-31. The PHS squad traveled to take on ALBERT GALLA- TIN HIGH of Point Marion, Pennsylvania, only to be outclassed and beaten by a score of 28-14. Again the boys were backed by a strong cheering section who traveled to the game in a chartered bus. Bouncing back from a loss, the purple and gold boys got on the winning streak as they put down SOUTH- ERN HIGH 26-6. The defense and offense performed well. The rampaging Panthers staged their second come- back of the year as they defeated UNIVERSITY HIGH of Morgantown 38-32. They came back in the final quarter of the game to chalk up the win. The fighting Panthers rolled to their sixth victory as they downed the KINGWOOD STAGS 22-6. The oval boys went to the air to win the game. The Gutshall boys racked up their seventh win by defeating the BURNSVILLE BRUINS 31-0. The vic- tors combined a strong running and passing attack to account for the win. Eager to go 8-2, the record-bound Panthers smashed RlUGLEY by a score of 44-18. This team effort ac- counted for the best season of a football team in the history of Parsons High. - JOHN LAMBERT Mountaineer Bealle St. Francis Masontown Albert Gallatin Southern University High Kingwood Burnsville Ridgley KENNY SMITH STEVE MCDONALD PHS OPP 31 6 0 34 44 19 32 31 14 28 26 6 38 32 22 6 31 0 44 18 RANDY BUNNELL Senior Gridders DENNY KNOTTS Panthers Notch 8-2 Record 55 This one didn't make it Future Varsity They don't keep house very well Pep Squad The Varsity Cheerleaders have had a busy year.
