TO THE STUDENTS OF PHS: Pioi X|DdjE 's Wgs$(xcj The greatest satisfaction in life is not in getting ahead of others, but in getting ahead of ourselves. It comes from breaking records, from doing something better today than we were able to do it yesterday. Try- ing to get ahead of others is a mistake, which often leads to envy from failure or conceit from success. In trying to outdo ourselves we have nothing to lose, and a world of satisfaction to gain. There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that is your own self. So you have to begin there, not outside, not on other people. That comes afterward, when you’ve worked on your own comer. Best of luck to all of you. Earl Sines, Principal PARSONS HIGH SCHOOL Mrs. Sandra Hedrick Sherman, a former graduate of PHS with the Class of 1960, is the present school sec- retary. Training for this job was acquired in her busi- ness courses in high school. She has worked as secretary to the Circuit Clerk of Tucker County and in a hospital office. Her main interests, however, are found in her fam- ily. Phil, and Little Phil” occupy most of her time.

Man through the ages, has seeked to further his knowledge, or to develop a certain skill, which in turn would better his life. Everyone who possibly could, should further their education through college, but everyone can’t. Instead we have vocational schools and other schools of instruction. When we finish our institutional training, our education is not complete because education is a life-long task. Boo tfL 0h' GduCOtiOlv 8 (L. to R.) Lawrence Losh; H. A.
