Entering our sophomore year we felt a greater self-confidence and began to engage in more extra-curricular activities. In sports, several of our class members won letters in football, basketball, and baseball; while in the class basketball tournaments our boys emerged victorious, though the senior girls de- feated all comers in the girls tournament. The highlights of the year were a sophomore play entitled Who Gets the Car Tonight? and a late spring picnic at Camp Horseshoe. The one event that maned the year was the death of Denny Corbin, who was our best-liked student. A plaque was placed in the auditorium in his memory, though none who knew him will ever forget him. The officers elected at the beginning of the year were; Gary Corcoran, President; Denny Corbin, Vice President; William Hanlin, Secretary-Treasurer; Kay Brady, Song Leader; Judy Orr and Nora Flanagan, Cheerleaders; Mrs. Rennix and Mr. Michael, Sponsors; blue and white. Class Colors; and red rose, Class Flower; Motto; Ever Forward. Our third year in high school was crammed with various events. In the early part of the year we had a party to start the year's activities. We sponsored the pop, ice cream, and candy stands to raise money for the Junior-Senior Ban- quet. which took place on May 11, 1957. The theme of the banquet was Moonlight and Roses. In Football, many of our boys were now on the first team, and several made the basketball squad. Our girls were defeated once more in the class tournaments, but the junior boys won after tough battles with the sophomores and freshmen. During the second semester, five of our members were chosen into the National Honor Society; Jackson Auvil, Gary Corcoran. Lela Haddix, James K. Lambert, and Judy Orr. Mary Sturms and William Turner were chosen to represent the class at the Annual WVEA Know Your State Goverment Day in Charleston. The final event of the year was a picnic and swim at Twin Springs. The class officers remained the same except for Olive Kimbleton as Song Leader, William Hanlin as Vice President, Coach Gutshall as Co-Sponsor, and James K. Lambert as reporter. In September, 1957, we enrolled in Parsons High School for the last time. With our class composed of 89 dignified seniors, we left all thought of money- making to the juniors (who are sure to need it) while we thought of graduation and the future Well represented on the football and basketball squads, we hoped to help win added trophies for Parsons High School. As spring drew near, we looked forward to the Junior-Senior Banquet. Then suddenly it has come and gone and graduation day is here. It seems to have come almost too quickly, and we wonder where the last four years have gone. It seems only yesterday that we were freshmen - and yet so long ago! We leave you. Parsons High, with sorrow and eagerness - sorrow because we must say farewell; eagerness to look into our future.
