Our class was composed of 128 members. We elected Janet Sue Shrout, president; Carmen Nestor, vioe-president; Carol Jean Goss, secretary; Katie Swisher, treasurer; Bonnie Moore, reporter; Howard Moore, student council; and Carmen Nestor, cheerleader. Sponsors were Mr. Carr and Mrs. Randolph. The motto chosen was— Y atch Us Climb. The class selected blue and white for their colors, and the red rose as their flower. The next fall we started our sophomore year at Parsons High with 113 members. Officers elected were: Frank Roberts, president; Howard Moore, vice-president; Janet Sue Shrout, secretary; Eleanor Ferguson, treasurer; Mervin Knotts, reporter; Delton Mullenax, student council. Our class sponsored the first King and Queen of Hearts Campaign at the PHS Valentine Carnival with Frank Roberts elected King and Carmen Nestor, Maid of Honor. V fe began our Junior year at PHS with 105 members hoping to be the largest graduating class in the history of the school. At long last we were upperclassmen! Frank Roberts was re-elected class president; Howard Moore was vice-president; Claudette Nestor, sec- retary; Delton Mullenax, treasurer; Pat Henry, reporter; Margaret Beck and Jerry Newman, student council; historians, Alice Kee and Mary Hartsaw. Eva Bright and Glen Moore were chosen as Princess and escort for the Annual Homecoming Game. Our important project of the year was the Junior-Senior Banouet. The theme was oriental gardens. Everyone worked hard and we went home weary but well-pleased with our work. As mighty seniors we entered dear old PHS for our final year. At last our long awaited goal was in sight. Officers elected were the same with these exceptions—Eleanor Ferguson, reporter; Delton Mullenax and Margaret Beck, student council; song leaders, Carolyn Arnold and Gail Parsons. Senior members of the Panther football squad were: Delton Chub Mullenax, captain, Frank Roberts, Jerry Bates Newman, Willis Fansler, and Glen Poling. The thrilling game of the season was when PHS fell to the Elkins Tigers by one point, with a final score of 26-25. Many outstanding plays made by the mem- bers of the teams kept the Parsons fans on their feet. Those on the PHS basketball team were: Phil Dimer Long, Delton Mullenax, and Pat Henry. On January 9, the Parsons Panthers defeated the Elkins Tiger's at Elkins for the first time in the basketball his- tory of PHS. Seniors accepted into the NHS were: Doris Arbogast, Eileen Baer, Eleanor Ferguson, Carol Jean Go3s, Mary Hartsaw, Mervin Knotts, Helen long, Currey Phillips, Marian Phillips,Delbert Poling, Gary Schilansky, Janet Shrout. Students accepted in their junior year v ere: Elizabeth Ann Bennett, Pat Henry, Alice Kee, Phil Long, Howard Moore, and Gail Parsons. Katie Swisher was aueen of the Homecoming and Carol Goss was Maid of Honor. Their escorts were Charles Shields and Danny Hockman. We, the seniors, were proud to add another link in the chain of memories for PHS. Farewell to all who helped us along the way. _29— Signed—Alice Kee Mary Hartsaw Compliments of 7 7 7 7 7 7 7 FORD’S STORE PETER PAN 7 7 7 7 General Merchandise CLEANERS 7 7 7 7 7 Groceries — Fresh Vegetables Meats IT PAYS TO 7 7 7 PARSONS.
