lowing players: Mary Anna Gilmore, Patty Goff, Wanda Miller, Josephine Hehle, Nancy Purkey, Joan Roy, Ruth Mullenax. At least six members of the class were on the Honor Roll this year and there w’ere eleven in Tri-Hi-Y, three in Hi-Y, thirteen in Glee Club, three in Triple Trio, two in Drama Club, fourteen in 4-H and seven out for Track. The class was a little more active this year and their float tied for first place in the parade sponsored by the Memorial Park Organization. Both boys and gir's placed first in the class basketball tour- nament. The Junior year also showed a de- crease in enrollment from the previous years. Officers for this year were: President. Jack Gable; Vice President, David Gatrell; Secretary, Orlen Eye; Treasurer, Betty Don McDonald; Historian, JoAnne Blackburn; and Sponsors, Betty Pat Wil- son (Miss Carroll having resigned) and Homer Brooks. This was a very important year and everyone was busy raising money and planning for the Junior, Senior Banquet. The theme used was the “Stork Club,” and much time was spent decorating for it. The class still was out in sports with Charles Kyer, Kenny Hovatter, Pete Ket- terman. Jack Gable, Bob Barton, Jack Rhoades, Kelly Day, and Truman Phil- lips in football and Bob Barton, Paul Eye, Jack Rhoades, Pete Ketterman, and Jack Gable in basketball. The representation in clubs was high, with the following: Tri-Hi-Y, Wanr’a Miller, Josephine Hehle, JoAnne Black- burn, Sally Ann English, Nancy Donalds, Dolly Shahan, Winnie Plum, Mary Mc- Vicker, Effie Jane Pennington, Margaret Barb, Patty Goff; Hi-Y, Dave Gatrell. Jack Gable, Bob Barton, Donnie Poling, and Jack Rhoades; Glee Club, Mary Mc- Vicker, Betty Don McDonald, Patty Goff, Margaret Barb, Ruth Mullenax, Mary Anna Gilmore, JoAnne Blackburn, Nancy Donalds, Sally Ann English, Wan- da Miller, Josephine Hehle, Jean Davis, Martha McDonald, Joan, Roy and Nola Nestor. They had several members in Drama Club. 4-H, F. F. A., B. G. B„ All-Letter Club, Track and the four members elect- ed to the National Honor Society were: Jack Gable, JoAnne Blackburn, Sally Ann English, and Effie Jane Pennington. The lass placed second in the class basketball tournament this year. The Senior year started with an en- rollment of 72, but decreased to 66 graduates. This was the most exciting year of all. The class rings were ordered in the Junior year, but we still had to order calling cards, large and small pictures, and graduation announcements.. Most of the boys, by this time, had served three or four years in sports and service sweaters were given to Jack Gable, Jack Rhoades, Bob Barton, Pete Ketterman, and Paul Eye. Other boys out for football and basket- ball were William Sturms, Dick Macey, Charles Kyer, Otis Fansler, Kenneth Ho- vatter, Donnie Poling, and Billy Wing- field. Instead of the usual number of speeches, only three were given and the rest of the program was filled in with music. Those ranking highest in the class were: Vale- dictorian. JoAnne Blackburn; Salutatori- am Wanda Miller, Mary Anna Gilmore, Susan Vachon, Malora Knotts, Jack Gable, Verney Kellar, Sally Ann Eng- lish, and Josephine Hehle. Graduation was May 26, 1949, and so ends our four year journey.
